i shouldn't imagine so, slow to 62, slow to 124, slow top speed and slower round the Ring compared to the MY11 GTR and nearly twice the price.....Porsche must be pissed

Even compared to the "old" stock GTR it is 15bhp up, 400kg lighter and only 2 secs faster round the ring only it is alot less practical and again a whole lot more dough. Don't get me wrong they are chalk and cheese, but playing the facts and figures against each other you have to ponder....

oh well that's settled it then
£130k for a track car is a large sum of money, certainly an enjoyable way to spend it, but if you are fortunate to have this to spend then i'd suggest you are of the elite track focused demographic who are really concerned about shaving the 1/10th off their last lap. I'd also suggest that this car wouldn't be their everyday car, so it begs the question why spend £130k on this as a arguably compromised (due to being road legal) track car as opposed to going out in the market and buying something specifically only interested in giving you the absolute best track experience it can without any form of compromise. This is a collectors car, a fantastic one, but i should imagine a large percentage of the 600 will remain bubble wrapped in some guys 'personal show rooms.....

Interesting view from someone who I am guessing (I could be wrong) has not driven the latest series of RS cars.
I didn't buy mine with a view as to getting the last 1/10th off a lap and I am not sure many did; it is because it is a brilliantly beguiling car to drive, on the road. I haven't even had it on track yet (but plan to do sprints in it). I am sure the new car is the same, just even more visceral with the revised engine.
Yes the 911 v GTR is always entertaining - but having wanted and waited to get a GTR - I was happy spending a lot more getting the 911. I didn't even drive the GTR - it just didn't make me want it. I guess this counts far more than numbers!
Oddly, the new car does not make me want in ways I thought I would, and anyway they are all sold.

PS as tested even the 'old' RS is faster to 124mph than the old GT-R and within 0.1s of the new one. Take away the 4WD advantage of standing start and I am guessing the RS would be faster. . Porsche are clearly being conservative with their numbers!

No you're right, not driven an RS variant as of yet, doesn't have the appeal to me at the moment i get my pleasure from being the underdog , tuning the car as i go and enjoying the ballistic acceleration. I think the appeal of an RS would come with the freedom and time to go to track days and really abuse the car for what they are designed to do! 500bhp out of a 4l flat 6 is great engineering though, it is a great car for what it is, but its just when i factor in the perspective of other available metal the appeal of this diminishes. Maybe i'm to fixiated on value, perhaps a by-product of my job, but still to me this is an over exuberent car exceptionally well engineered but targetting a market that doesn't exist other than the P car fan boys who want the latest and greatest machine and are happy to pay a premium to a brand they adore. All the best to them
A manufacturer being conservative with their numbers.......pull the other one!

As for conservative -
Porsche figure for 0-200kph - 12.6s, actual test 11.6s
Porsche figure for 0-100mph - 8.2s; actual test 7.9s
Porsche figure for 996.2 GT3 - 381bhp; actual test - every car produced over 400bhp

Alloy - I guess its galling that however fast or powerful your Datsun, it will never be very desirable. And it weighs more than Venus. And is bigger than Europe.

LOL at this bang for buck argument.
The GTR has to be almost as over rated as the Civic Type R is.
I'd happily pitch my £30K creation over anything mentioned here. OK I may not win the "oh look it's an expensive, classy car competition" but I'd sure as hell be an awful lot quicker. You have to ask yourself how much more expensive your smiles per mile have been compared to mine and who has the most fun.

Perhaps in your ignorant mind, but to the rest of the world who saw the spec sheet and the number to be produced, your statement isn't a revelation!

It was fun burning off Porsches, now when Scoobs or Evos burn me off it really doesn't bother me at all. Been there, done that, literally have the T-shirt
