Bet he's gutted too mine jumped teeth and destroyed the engine how bad is his? I do know a very cheap place for getting bits for them and they just broke an 8 valve I believe. Is he in the know about the old lancias? if you want email me offline his phone number address or email address please. if it is not use to me it maybe to him

Think the spider was a Beta variant, with a non turbo twin cam.
A Thema 16v turbo would be a better cheapie option for a donor engine. (Fiat Croma had an 8v)

I have best part of the engine (maybe all) and just need to know if it's the same block just incase mine is not repairable or expensive to repair. I can get a bare block for about £300 but this engine I have been offered is free Basically I just wanted to strip it back to a bare block and bolt all of my turbo bits onto it and make a whole engine again.

I scrapped Croma turbo about 3 months ago, and have still got a Strada 130TC "project". I think it unlikely that the head studs are in the same position on the block, as the the head on the 2000 turbo & later twin cams is rotated 180 degrees from the earlier non turbos (ie. from the spider you're considering).
Probably best to get clarification from Avanti (Street, Somerset, if they're still about.) or L&M in High Wycombe.
I take it it is a 2litre !

Dunk, you don't fancy a cylinder head for your Strada Abarth do you as I've got one with bronze valve guides sitting here from the 2 x 130TCs I used to have..cracking cars.

The Lancia twin cams used the same blocks initially but the later ones had the balancer shafts too so i don't think the Beta spider block will be the same. Certainly the pistons etc will be different as theDelta runs a different compression ration and may have additioanl oil and waterways for better cooling too. Nearest block that is similar is that from the Thema.

The Beta spider is not a 16v (ps if it turns out to be a 16v, let me know and ill have it. I doubt it though as only the works cars had 16v heads and they certainly werent spiders!), and the block is quite different from the integrale. The beta is the classic fiat twin cam but thats about all. Same engine as is in my two Beta Volumexs except i get the supercharger, lower compression pistons, bigger oil pump and decent valve seats.

The engine has no-doubt gone by now because this was a year ago Since then I had my engine re-bored and re-built it myself
