Go for the Saab then. Based on a Vectra and using Fiat sourced GM diesels but they at least look fairly good.

Audis are worse than BMWs now for non image. Especially when Stilover is driving daddy's one

Although, I personally would go for the BMW as well.

Whichever you buy just make sure it has a proper Valet .You dont want to be sitting down on a load of Hairclips or Curlers .

Mrs skeeter used to run a 3.0 Audi A4 vert and I have to say it is one of the best made cars that I have ever been in. She had a 54 plate from new.

Only significant drawback was that I thought the ride was harsh, bordering on crashy but she loved it.

She had tried a SAAB 9-5 before plumping for the Audi and driving the two back to back it really was no contest. The SAAB is a rebodied vectra and feels like it.

However, the SAAB can be had cheaper and I have no doubt dealer charges are less.

If you see what i see sat at the side of the M1 every week displaying hazard lights then an Audi wouldn't be anywhere near your poss list

Don't SAAB cabs bend in the middle somewhat?

You might want to look into performance figures, power figures and tax figures too.

I did this looking for a derv and in every area the Audi lost to the equiv BM.
