Default BMW X6 x35d any good?

We are planning to increase another extra family member in the very near future. So would definitely required a bigger car, not for myself but for the wife really.

Any one driven a X6 x35d? All opinion please regarding handling, safety, performance, usability. How comfortable for the rear passengers? What sort of mpg should I expect from it?

I just really fancy the look of it. Final question will you buy one? Please advice thx

Get great reviews but generally hated!

Nice engine of course and usefully rapid.

As you want to increase the population by another 1 I would say the X6 is not really the car, and a X5 would be better.
X6 will only seat 4 as its got separate seats in the rear, where as the X5 has the bench seat and is also available with 7 seats.

If it were me I would go for the X5 ...... Although I like the X6 I couldnt really be seen in one.

Rear view in the x6 is horrid, hense why most are sold with a reversing camera, it's wider than an x5 and has quite poor mpg for a diesel.
As others have said, a nice x5 diesel sport model would be better suited to your needs. Plus you can have more options with your money as the x6 is more expensive from the start.

Old boys X5 35D got 27 mpg and the X6 is supposed to be about the same.

Scarily quick for such a large diesel 4x4.

Get a 6 month old example of the X5 is my opinion.

I ran one that we had taken in part exchange for a few weeks, it was when we had loads of snow and it was an absolute death trap !

To say it has 4wd, it was a hazzard to navigation !

Fuel economy was almost as bad as my Impreza as well and it was the diesel version.

This was due to the fat summer tyres. If the tyres give no traction, it makes no difference if it`s AWD or not.

All X cars have big old fat road tyres. Fitting 18"s with good mud and snow tyres, really does transform these cars in winter/snowy conditions.

My middle aged inlaws might be getting one (currently have an X5)...!

Also planning on getting a 997.2 S or turbo too so I'll forgive them.

my dad just bought the 3.5i petrol twin turbo model and he is very happy with his car. Its fully loaded with all the extras and drives like a car but looks like a 4X4. i wouldnt buy one but he likes to sit high and feels that low sporty BMW give him real back pains.

Drives bloody well tho

Wink

One of the very few cars I would buy if heaven forbid I left subaru

Amazing to drive and ultimate I'm richer then you image ,get out of my way or I will run you over

Real head turner lots knocking around "rich " cities and a footballers wives car alternative to a range rover

Diesel performance is fantastic and views above the hedges are great and handle a lot better then a. x5 too

If your not shy sort of person get one
