Default What a difference a MAF makes

I had my A4 dyno'd at Scoobyworld in Loogabooga a few weeks back and came back with 246bhp peak and 375ft/lbs which was disappointing as I'd had it Revo'd previously.

Some head scratching and a chat with Revo had the car plugged into a dyno module which showed the MAF was effectively supplying only 50% of the air the car needed under load.

I could've had this swapped under Audi warranty but to be honest, I couldn't bear the faff and having to hide the remap from them - so I got one myself. I had the remap reapplied to reset it and went off for the weekend.

1. There are some stunning driving roads in North Yorskhire
2. My car pulls like a fecking train.

Managed to squeeze the car back onto the dyno again a few mins ago (thanks everyone at Scoobyworld!) and came back with....

266bhp
390 ft/lbs

and on a hot day like today, that ain't bad!

Weird torque 'curve' though.... it goes near vertical at 2500 rpm, so I'm sending the graph down to Revo to see what they have to say as I think the are being a little overly aggressive on the turbo settings.

I'll post up a copy when I get it posted to me, see what you think.

Love the torque figure though.....

That is a bit weird. How's it sounding with the Milltek?

Sub 400lbs-ft is still gay though ;-)

Absolutely gorgeous - from the back you REALLY can't tell it's a diesel, and inside you get this lovely rich purr rising to a roar when you boot it.

I'm going back when it's cold to break the 400 mark

You want to see this torque cliff though - it jumps 110 ft/lbs in about 200rpm. It's an insane looking jump. The power rises 60bhp in the same gap. Makes for amazing overtaking ability.

Sounds unusual - my curve is fairly flat - maybe the twin turbos keep it that way?

Over about 1500rpm mine is the similar soundwise - very undieselly and actually quite fruity. Can't hide it's dieselness on start up though.

Glad you're enjoying it - are the drivetrain issues now all resolved?

The M3 and the 335i have a piffling 295lbs-ft (but rather more bhp in the M3's case)...

Cool it's sorted now.

Mine's up for a service next week (27k miles) and runs out of warranty. Not going to extend it -fingers crossed for no engine explosions!

Got to say: it's fun to hear the petrol crowd crowing about breaking the 300 ft/lb barrier

I love the small of the back surging push you get from a big powerful TDi engine - over-taking is WAY safer in one of these cars

So let's see if we understand this: you swapped out the MAF and gained 20bhp and 15lbft of torque...........and that makes a hell of a difference?

Can't wait to get mine mapped then and release it's full 400/400+, up from 300/275.

Get a Scoob, stop messing about with slow diesels

I drove my father in laws A6 witht he same engine, very nice but thats an auto and as such never seems to know whether it want to go for a p1ss or a haircut, it was quick-ish, my Saab feels quicker and no doubt is being lighter and more powerful but that engine in a manual, lighter car with a remap/exhaust must be brilliant.
