Which daddy wagon? Want diesel and AWD?
The only things that seem to fit the bill are either:
Audi A4 quattro or Subaru Legacy
Are there any other cars that can offer a diesel engine and AWD?
I'd prefer not to have a "soft-roader", but estate, hatches and saloons considered.
Cheers
Andy

We're currently waiting for a Skoda Superb Wagon and Skoda Scout demos to come into stock to tryout and replace the Altea with.
Both AWD option as well as Diesel (170bhp for Superb, 140bhp for Scout)
Scout is a soft roader though, but we need the ground clearance on our drive which the Altea struggles (the fuel cooler is right where it grounds ) and it struggles to get up in the wet. If the superb can't clear the drive, then we'll try out the Scout.

Cheers guys.
I like the XC90, but probably too big for me to use daily with just me in it! I like the Legacy diesel as well!
I like the Octavia, but I thought the vRS was FWD only. I see they do a jacked up Octavia with AWD, but I'll get myself to the locatl Skoda dealership to have a closer look around!
Cheers

The Forester made way for a Touran, which my wife uses.
I currently have a convertible Saab, but have the green light to get a sporty two seater (probably an Elise, VX220, etc) and a diesel daddy wagon.
I forgot about the Passat, but not sure about something like the Pathfinder or Yeti.

What I will say about the Pathfinder is yes it is slow but my kids love it and I find it the most spacious comfortable car i've had. The kids can't get enough of sitting in the seats in the boot so has been a good choice as a family car.
I sold the scoob and bought the Pathfider as i'd rather go slow on our congested roads and be in comfort and space than go slow in a car I want to drive fast and can't.
Oh and I get 31mpg out of it (115 miles to £20) so not a thirsty beast. Might not be your cup of tea at first thought but worth a sit in one with the kids before dismissing out right.

An Octavia boot is too small? Do you do removals?

We need the space for regular trips to Spain and back. Including 3 adults, dog and contraband. The current Altea is beyond a joke and enough is enough. Need much more rear leg room comfier rear seats and a much much much larger boot.

The Skoda Superb estate has been getting amazing reviews so definitely worth a look. I've also test driven a Yeti and loved it, it's like a baby Disco. The one I tested was 170bhp and 4x4. Fantastic vehicle. For the top of the range, fully specced up model it still came to under 25k and had a really cool touch screen HU. I liked the fact that you could get in and out of it with no effort, it's just the right height, which for a couple of old knackers with bad backs is ideal
I LOVE Skodas, so much car, so little money!

I love the Skoda offering, but I want a Skoda Octavia vRS TDI 170 with AWD (and the moon on a stick as well... obviously!)
Looks like I need to test drive the Subaru Legacy diesel.

Our main family car is an Octavia vRS TDi (co. car).
My wife has an aging A3 1.8T Sport which we will need to replace soon. She would like another A3, probably a nearly new S-Line 1.8T however, I can't get it out of my mind that it is a smaller car than the 'Tavia, with less kit based on the same platform with the same oily bits - for more money!
Wimmins eh?

So right, I've had my R32 and Altea up in the air and underneath the chassis and suspension is almost identical, barring the engine, battery location, rear subframe/diff and a slight difference in length.
Altea cost €17500 (euros) brand new, yet it actually has more mod cons inside than my R32 (Cruise control, steering remote control for the radio/phone, aux input, MP3 compatible CD player, Full multifunction display, Sunroof, Voice activated bluetooth, and automatic wipers that actually work ok). Whereas the R32 was probably £30K+ new and had none of that.
