think its time to go diesel powered looking for hatch on the rear possibly estate up to 5k
seen astra/vectra cddti on autotrader but how do i tell if its really the 150bhp engine?

also bmw 320d estate when do they come with 150bhp engines?

what are your suggestions and why.... looking for something reliable and can get a good increase with a remap.

I had one for four years (Astra estate Design) and it was a decent motor. They have 1.9CDTI with a red "T" and "I" - all silver is the 120bhp version.

The 150 is pretty quick and good on fuel and all Astras are quite light too.

320d has been above 150bhp for many years now - currently at 185ish.

so red t and i any other way to identify eg the emissions on the v5? as i think some people might make their car out to be the 150 when its not to get more for selling it.

320d was 150bhp from about 01 until the E90 variants (late 05 for saloon/estate, later for cabrio/coupe), then 163bhp until efficient dynamics sometime in 2007 with 177bhp, then 184bhp since about the start of 2010 (apart from the latest "Efficient Dynamics" saloon which is 163bhp but 68mpg combined)

My wife's car is a 163bhp E91 (touring) which - whilst it never feels fast - is quick enough for anything you'd realistically need, relaxed cruise, pleasant to drive etc.

Best method to id the 16v engine is to pop the bonnet up, the oil filler cap is on the rhs of the engine on the 16v engine, its on the left on the 8v engine.
Note this is not the 100% way to id the power output, the early astra 120's used the 16v engine (upto 2006), the vectra's used the 8v 120's.
Just be aware of dodgy badged up cdti's.

On my Vectra CDTi 150, you can't easily see the oil filter, the only way to get to it is from underneath (undoing it with a 32mm socket) and if anything, it is bang in the middle of the engine iirc

Edit: Sorry, you said filler cap and you could most likely be correct, mine is on the right.

To check if it is a 120 or 150, you will have to check the VIN plate, engine codes...

120 - Z19DT
150 - Z19DTH

These are for 04-07 year

Oh dear...

M badges on non M BMWs and S-Line kit on non "S" or "RS" Audis - oh very dear indeed.

I saw an Orion the other day - it had:

a VTS "16v" badge
a "Type R" badge
a "turbo" badge

All stuck on the back. I nearly cried.
