What is it with Audis?!
Why is it that Audi drivers feel they must be the fastest car on the road.
Driving (briskly) home from Leeds today I was passed by four cars at very high speeds. All Audis.
Out to pick up a curry tonight in a 50, passed by an Audi doing 80 on a bend. Clever! Not!
I think TG is right - Audi is the new BMW!

I'm finding the same but also with mk6 diesel Golfs - had three being "lairy" at me recently.
I do think Audi have taken the BMW mantle big time - except most Audis (Always Underwhelming for Driver Involvement) don't even handle properly.

Its usually those in entry level version of these cars. A generalization I know, but the worst drivers are Audi A3, BMW 1 series and the Mercedes coupe thing with the cut off back owners

Around here its Audi's everytime. It seems like a self fulfilling prophecy, you get an Audi and start to drive like a ***, start to think other road users will automatically respect you, start to think that you won the road, and of course ignore the fact that most other road users think your a dick.

I sadly rose to the bait on the M62 last week, Audi A6 (?) is pushing me along so I pulled across into the middle lane when I could and then shifted down into fifth....
As he pulls alongside I floored it and left him for dead.
Tsk !

Has anyone noticed that it is always the TDi brigade. You'll get a thumbs up or a wave from an RS4/6, but the TeDIum ****munchers seem to think their dolphin grey, generic, poverty spec, eco of the moment, dross chariot is a GT3 RS.
I am glad this thread exists. I am not alone!

Matteboy can you explain more about the handling issue.
I drive all sorts of roads at reasonable speeds and my car handles as it should. Are you suggesting when pushed using excessive speeds on public roads the handling isn't that good?
With my cars i get in them, start them up, use the wheel, pedals and gear lever and drive, what more involvment do you want?
What does yours do, have a conversation with you?

i agree with the handling comments, although my experience is limited to a 225tt, and A4 cab. The TT handles well enough but feels isolated and numb combined with a harsh ride, the A4 is extremely comfortable but also has a numb feeling. Extremely well built though.

Different people want different things from different cars. And needs of a car change with time - I know mine have as have quite a few people on this site
I wish I could find a car that would be comfortable, smooth and highly ecomomical on the daily drive to work, yet a car I would want to take on a weekend hard drive !
Lol at Matteboy love for BMW and the need to defend them all the time especially on a Subaru biased forum, I dont get his comment re handling either - maybe he is just quoting what BMW try to market their cars on ?? 1 series or 3 series abililty to cope with a bumpy damp road - definatley not one their strong points !
There seems to be idiots in every make of cars these days no maker seems to be exempt. More driver attitude than car maker in my eyes

A few years ago they hired the head of chassis tuning at BMW so even Audi recognise that it was not good. It does not seem to have made much difference.
I have not been in an R8 yet though!

The ones I have driven which excludes "proper" RS models:
Steering numb and lifeless -no feedback.
All understeer badly.
You can feel the excessive weight on the front end.
Brakes are usually snatchy.
S-Line models have a cr4p ride quality and crash over any bump.
Most are FWD.
Many have two exhausts even when they have a mere 2.0TDI engine- who are they trying to fool?
Interiors may be made well but they are horribly fussy and ergonomically cack, Their sports seats look great but are very hard to get comfy in.
Apart from the latest S3, S4, B7 RS4, R8 and both RS6s,which are good, all models really hold their value - I have NO idea why.
IMO apart from the above cars, good Audis stopped at the uR Quattro of which my dad had three.

Well i've just got a A3 tdi sport s-Line so i guess i'm stereotyped?
I bought it as a commuter which does 43mpg on A and b roads where my last car Focus ST2 did 22.3mpg
I've had a few Audis along with 3 scoobs, 4 BMWs, VWs, etc, etc - i can't understand how all drivers of same makes of car can be the same? that's like saying all scoob drivers are boy racers, all Rover drivers are grandads, all Micra drivers are grannys, etc
Why is it so called car enthusiasts slate owner/drivers of other marques and think they're better than them?

Holding their value, simple, they are decent cars otherwise they wouldn't sell.
Assuming we are talking public road driving and not track days.
Feed back, such as what or are you quoting 'Clarkson'
Weight, that will be the engine then.
Brakes are more snatchy on the wife's mini.
Never crashed going over a bump.
FWD, as are a lot of cars, at least they wont spin out in snow or when the dtc fails.
Exhausts, if that bothers you get a grip!
A mere 2.0 tdi, a classic mines bigger than yours, get a life.
Interior, looked at a 1 series yesterday as a replacement for the mini and if they represent a BMW interior than you are welcome to kiss their **** as much as you do, plain beyond belief.
Go on admit it, you want one, turn to the dark side, we have indicators
Are you in the trade as you seem to have driven all sorts?

i will say i live near guildford and it seems to be that alot of audi drivers are getting very bad road manners, not all i must say but it is more noticeable. still loads of ***** in bmw's though and my neighbour used to have a z4 and is a massive tw@t so that put me off having one for life.
