Default Fake Exhaust Pipes

Was sat behind a MG TF on the way home and noticed vapour coming out of only one side of a double exhaust.

Was the twin pipe meant to make the car look more manly...

How many other cars have fake exhaust pipes?

Many many cars have them.

My rule is:

Less than 200bhp - twin (especially one either side) pipes NOT allowed.

Audi and Mazda re especially guilty of putting them on cars with almost no power to make them look "sporty"

Soot comes out of both of mine - which I then have to clean off every few months!

I saw a Passat with fake exhausts, however they were literally two plastic bits stuck on to the bumper!!! EPIC FAIL

My 1.8T Octavia (Not RS) has twin pipes but they point down (similar to a diesel) and are not obvious - Is that allowed

I'm pretty sure that both tailpipes are connected and one is not a fake on the MG-TF

it's a huge backbox with a tailpipe on either side, so at idle it probably just vents on the nearest tailpipe to the inlet

My BMW has twin exhaust pipes, has some form of valve, only uses one at low rpm and opens both as the rpm increases. (vacuum operated?)
