I'd give him £5k for it all day long, if I had the garage space and a big bubble. Thats from someone thats never even been in one!

A bargain when you consider what a similar condition Series 1 RS Turbo would fetch.

Here's one with double the mileage:

Good morning

Seen that for sale for a few days now. Unfortunately a little overpriced and should be bought by a collector. You put a few k's on that and it will plummet in value.

Mines got 147,000 miles on her now as I can't stop driving her (when she's not broken)

Mate of mine over on the 205 forum I frequent has the first 1.9GTi registered in the UK - an '86 D-plate in graphite grey. Its probably done more miles than the above example but is absolutely pristine and totally standard

I'd rather have the RS Turbo tbh. Different league of awesomeness compared to the GTi as you still see ratty 205's on the road.

Different cars though Jamie. I've never tried an RS turbo so my opinions a little biased. There are more 205's on the road for sure but they had galvanised bodies - the Fords just rusted away making any examples left more sought after

It's like a modern comparison of Scoobs with Evo's - more Scoobs about (in all chavved up or in standard guises) compared to Evo's... which hold their prices better

I've never drove either i'm just going by the WoW factor, when i see a really clean 205 GTi, i'm generally very appreciative of the sight but when I see a RS Turbo its just pure sex-wee material! I'm a big ford fan thou as well so there ya go. Oddly i don't like Escort Cosworths thou.

Makes sense

I've never been a Ford fan for some reason, dunno why. I like the old Sierra/Escort Cossies and thats about it. Same as you with regards to appreciating a well kept classic (which the RS and GTi both fall into), but theres something about owning a 205 (like a Scoob/fast Ford) that gives me great pleasure

Agreed an S1 RST is always going to be worth more, but at the same time its not a £3.5k motor.

He's not selling it very well. Needs a load more pictures to back up the condition.

It is a little overpriced and needs a warm garage to keep it comfortable as pugs can be a little tempremental to say the least and I do love pugs (doesnt matter which one, probably why I've owned 9 of em (1 205, 1 209 gti, 3 306 gti's 2 1.9 DT and 1 S16 which I still have).
A good 205 will be worth a decent ammount, maybe 4k but as rossyboy said, he needs more pics, especially the interior, rear arches, underneath, engine bay etc.

Tony

PS, CoB, graphite grey is definately the best colour followed by white and if you ever saw how those little frenchies ran to the GTI's in Calais to put them on the ferry, you would be very p1ssed off to know your car was ragged senseless from cold

21 years, 12 owners and 147,000 miles later I hazard it won't make a lot of difference now

She gets warmed up nicely before I go over 3,000 rpm

It was quite funny, this was back in 87 but we were in a 1.6GTI (105bhp) and you should have seen the look on the guy's face who was driving knowing that happened to his car the 1.9's went first, ragged through the gears to the ferry, then the 1.6's, then the rest were driven normally, those dodgy frenchies
Glad to see yours is still running very well

Tis running - when warm. Got an idle issue which seems to be a combination of ECU temp sensor/knackered plug and fueling set up. Currently averaging 22.4 mpg Scoob got more than that

Gonna get the above bits replaced and take her to Skip Brown as a treat to get set up properly. Very highly recommended on the 205 forum and well priced too.

I wanna pop it to Skip Borwn as they have an excellent reputation and rolling road Be a good drive out I reckon and any issues can be identified, sorted.

Had mine rollered a few years back when I got it and did the usual, new plugs, leads, dizzy etc and she RR'd at 129bhp, not too shabby considering it was about 15 years old at the time. And seems to go even better now!

Hooray - gratuitous pics have started (lovely car Rob - my first 1.9 was red )

If you'd driven both, the 205 was by far the better car.

That one in the add is a pre catalyst, pre power steering car. Best of the bunch IMO.

Wow! A pair of utterly mint 1.9ers - brilliant! Always loved them - always been too scared to buy one (so went the Golf Gti route instead)!

Same as mine. Can be a bugger parking with my RSI but the steering is absolute perfection when driving enthusiastically I have electric windows and an alarm with central locking - more than enough creature comforts

I'm gonna have to do it aren't I since others have posted theirs up here. This is her in April after I refurbed the wheels myself to white...

Just in the process of sanding and respraying a grill without the badge on. Thinking of having the wheels sprayed a darker colour after xmas as they're awful to keep clean with the miles I do.
