Audi TTS

0-62 in 5.4 seconds and limited to 155mph isn't exactly slow. I wouldn't buy one new but a second hand one maybe. I quite like the focus rs and Astra VXR but love 4wd grip and don't really want to get another Impreza.

There aren't any second hand at sensible prices, and there weren't when I was shopping either, sensible spec on a new one ends up at £40k. When I was shopping for a car in this range, I wouldn't consider something so slow.

Have to say I like them - as MattW has pointed out that its the same setup up as my current S3 so I know that Audi figures will be conservative, and with a stage 1 Revo even better, So lol at the comments of been slow - but they are deceptively smooth & quitewhich can hide the sensation of speed!
Lease cost for them seem to have dropped so might be getting a cab in Jan.
Matt- has your S4 arrived yet ? What options did you spec interior wise - sat in a V well specced S4 at the dealers and all I can say is wow !

I still maintain they are slow. Many people on here started as Impreza Turbo owners, and 0-60 in 5.2 was 10 years ago.
The TT in all forms has always been about show rather than go. I wish it was different as I like the mini-R8 look, but that is slow and overpriced too. As is the TT-RS, although that is more interesting, but even more expensive than the TTS.
Instead of the TT, how about a 997 or a 996 turbo, M3, GTR, Noble, Lotus, anything that has some element of an excellent engine, steering, suspension. There are much more interesting options in the £30-60k range.
Quick is certanily not 0-100 in 12 seconds...
To throw away c.£40k on a slow four cylinder that has nothing excellent about it is ill advised, there is a whole world of proper performance cars out there for that money that give real performance. Any TT is a mobile chicane on track in the way of one of these.

The were voted gay car of the year not so long ago, And thats about all I can think of when I see someone driving one.
I have no problem with gay people obviously but gay cars make me laugh
Audi TT - TT tops the gay vote | GoAuto

But its the usual argument of used V new. And where does track (work ?) come into it ?
As stated I'm leasing the car so until find a leasing company that leases used cars, my choices are a bit more limited !
PS I have more fun at the moment in my off roader than road cars !

Leasing does I'm sure give a different situation, restricting choice, modification, if on behalf of an employer some limit performance/seats/CO2 and other dull but practical considerations, but if they're paying I guess they can.
360 BHP in a TT-S will still be monumentally dull IMHO for the money it costs. If you bought a new one, specced it up and paid list, did your 360 BHP mods, you're within a few grand of a lightly used GTR which with £750 of tuning gives about 570 BHP, 0-60 and 0-100 under 3 and 7 seconds. That puts it into perspective for me. What is the point of an expensive 2 door coupe that is so slow when other options like that are around for not much more? I know I'm stretching the new vs used slightly, but the TT just doesn't do it for me. If the TTRS was priced like the TTS, then perhaps.
Yes, S3 I can entirely see the point, it is a sensible/smart looking car with a nice interior, it is economical, refined, reasonably priced, you can park it almost anywhere, and it has reasonable performance for its price.

On their website they've recently reviewed a TTRS and it still takes 13 sec to do a quarter mile and costs £50k with options. It too is a pointless bauble, not a £50k performance car.
It takes most people a while to save up £50k with all the taxes and cost of living these days, or a big whack out of their monthly income if they have to pay to PCP/hire it/finance it, they don't want to be bored when they blow it on a car.

I think they are sports cars for those that arent interested in the ultimate drive, it looks nice, has a nice interior and goes plenty fast enough for most with the bonus on not eating its own gearbox every six months. For some boring (as boring as a 260 bhp car can be) as what is exciting to you is actually scary for them.
A GTR is too much car for most people, not in to drive it normally as I cant imagine its difficult but in terms of sheer performance and the attention it attracts, never mind the bills.

Sounds like the price is the problem not the performance.
Richard spec as follows, it's currently being built, was at checkpoint 3 on Friday, so hopefully another 2-3 weeks.
I guess the showroom car had the supersport seats, I quite like the standard ones (like the S3) so so have kept them.
Avant
S tronic
Sepang Blue Exclusive Colour
Black Milano Leather
Hill Hold
19" Alloys (RS4 Style)
Heated folding mirrors
Privacy
High Beam Assist headlights
Adaptive headlights
Ski load through
Tyre pressure monitor
Heated front and rear seats
Drive Select (Full)
Sports diff
Advanced key
Rear side airbags
Phone prep low
B&O sounds
DAB
Tech Pack (Sat Nav, AMI, Cruise)
Park System Plus

Nice sensible spec -fat to easy to go silly on the spec - when a lot of the stuff can be retrofitted for very little money.
yes the seats where the super sports one - better than the buckets I have in my S3 at the moment !
Have fun when it arrives

I do like the TTRS just way out of my price range. I am seriously going to look at a TTS when they hit the 25k mark. I don't know if it'll be ok for my daughter in the back though.
