Default Anyone know a website that lists in gear performance figures?

Lot's of 0-60 and 0-100 and emissions but can't track down a decent source of in gear times.
Any ideas?

I usually just Google for 30-70 times for a specific car. Not many people use these figures, but anyone with sense knows they give a better idea of a cars road driving performance. Based purely on 0-60 Scoobs are up there with supercars, but we all know that most proper supercars will kill a Scoob dead in-gear, and many more ordinary sporty cars can and do keep up once rolling. A recent example relative to myself was my Fabia achieving 30-70 in 6 seconds (Racelogic Driftbox verified) compared to an 05 STi PPP doing 5.4s and a standard BMW 335D (both mates cars) killing us with a 3.4s (now mapped to 350/500, so even quicker). I wish 30-70 was quote instead, or at least as well as mostly irrelevant 0-60.

cheers slipstream - it's more the accel. figure like cb is talking about.

You used to get them a lot in mags and road tests but there doesn't seem to be any mainstream site that published them.

I agree corradoboy, that's where the performance matters day to day, getting up to speed on skip roads, overtaking etc.

The other day I was behind an E class cdi, not sure of the numbers, he was dawdling for the conditions, I thought he was maybe on the phone or distracted, 25-30 on an empty 50 dual so I was behind him quite quickly in my little VAG. I was in a low gear, probably on boost, getting ready to pass and then he woke up. No hesitation, no clouds of black smoke, this thing just took off like a scalded cat. Not just pulling away, he shot off, he was nearly quarter a mile away by the time I got to 50. That's what a bucket load of torque will do for you I suppose!

Aren't the 535 diesels supposed to be faster 30-70 than the M5 or something like that?

I saw figures quoting 3.7s for the M5 and 3.4s for the 335D, standard (280/430). 535's are obviously a little bigger and heavier, but will probably still be very quick. Google it My mates 335D is now at 350/500.

Cheers, good site that, shame there isn't more data.

You know the M5 is fast but when you see the comparisons, you realise how fast.
Last RS6 is 0-150 in 36 seconds, not too shabby, E60 M5.... 21!!!
I just have no point of reference for that

Must be 'something like that' as the M5 is quite a fair bit quicker than the 535d when Autocar did their in-gear times. (3.6 seconds vs 5.4 )

I must question Autocars results, as my paltry 1.9 Pumpe Duese engine with a turbo like a hairdryer and tiny side mount intercooler achieved a 6.1s using a Racelogic Driftbox to measure. A 3 litre sequential twin turbo BMW common rail engine must be significantly more powerful and thus quicker than 5.4 IMHO.

Yes, corradoboy already pointed out it was the 335.

I must have got hold of the wrong end of the stick then - he seemed to be quoting a standard 335d doing 30-70 in 3.4 seconds. I'm sure the odd figures in Autocar are wrong but I find it hard to believe a standard 335d is that much quicker than a 535d

the times in that fast saloons website for the 535d are wrong, it is a misprint, iam sure for the 535d they got there times from other mags autocar, etc

the 335d is only a fraction faster, than the 535d, not by that much

What we need is a bhp figure at 50% of red line included as a basic spec. Most relevant everyday driving yardstick you can get (but you'll have to calculate it yourself)

Evo usually does a lot of in gear times, like here for the RS6 vs R8 Audi R8 and Audi RS6 group test | Car Review Group Test | evo

They quote the RS6 doing 0-150 in 23, which seems more like it. Still surprised it's lower than the new M5 though, but I bet it would mash the M5 in-gear. It can't have that much mid range can it? Can it? If only we had that 50% figure...

Usually look at 60-100mph in 3rd as a good guide of really useful welly and the RS6 takes a total of 5.7 seconds. (adding the 2 values they have).

That doesnt seem as fast as the huge power and torque figures would suggest? I think a 911 turbo is in the mid 4 seconds. Although I'd be a bit miffed if there was nearly 100bhp missing on the dyno as per review..

I would just look at through 60-100 times to get a good idea how cars compare when on the move, very easy to check becuase its just the 0-100 minus the 0-60 and it reduces the chances of cars being in the wrong gear or getting caught out with an extra slow gearchange that may effect the comparison figures.

IMO anything more than 10% difference between cars' 60-100 and your going to physically see the gap of the faster car pulling away, within 10% or less and it may not be that noticable in the real world.
