EVO 450 ?
#1
Saw and EVO today (again in Wilmslow) fully Rally'd up with full graphics and it said 450 edition or something, it had a thing in the back window at the top that looked like it was keeping it open a bit. It was certainly loud and my 2 year old was beside himself, the reg was something like X** GSR or similar (prob well wrong)
Anyone know of a 450 Lancer EVO ?

Erm this is the hardcore daddy of Evos and is for those who think the standard Evo is too soft. Ive seen a couple of Evo 5 RS450's advertised around. The 450 is for bhp. This car has an ultra short gear setup and if memory serves me right it can hit 100mph in around 8.8 secs!!!
Ah yes managed to dig up some info for you Here

If you read the Article that P1Fanantic linked to above, it states 450bhp and 380lb/ft
The article's for a 5 though, but the RS450 is an optional upgrade for the 6 aswell as an enthusiast's model, available from Ralliart I believe.

The name rs450 is a bit of an unknown. Its certainly not the bhp output and I've heard it was the 'aimed for torque figure' in Nm.
Its a very rapid car, but whether its worth the money, only the owner will know!

Hmm not that I know much about BHP but surely a car (going on the 0-100mph times which I have seen confirmed in at least 3 articles) that should be around 10 secs for the standing quarter would need around 450bhp to get such a time?
What I want to know is that if its only hitting 80mph in 5th at 4000rpm then how the hell does it have a top speed of 155mph using a 5 speed box?

Sorry John, Ive read the link and dont attribute anything to it, its erroneous like many of their articles. The RS450 has been discussed many times on the lancer bbs and the same conclusions reached. Infact I think one was rolling roaded and didnt reach anywhere near 450bhp, didnt even break the 400bhp barrier. But your welcome to believe the article if you like.
Infact a quick look at the lancer bbs gave http://www.lancerregister.com/cgi-bi...age=0&Session=

I must be missing something - 80 mph at 4000 rpm equates to 160mph at rev limiter (they said 8000 rpm in article). So why cant u see top speed 155 mph (P1fanatic) and not where does 110 mph come from !

Seems interesting either way, the article posted refers to the Evo V RS450 - and the suggestion on the Lancer Forum is that the VI had normal gearing anyway.
No matter how you package it, sounds like a serious piece of kit!
I think people often forget that BHP isn't the be-all-and-end-all with cars, take the WRC cars as an example, 300BHP and the ability to see off most, if not all the cars owned by regular people.
. o O ( the only 206 to own, would be a WRC car ! )

Guys,
If you speak to Ralliart then they will tell you that the RS450 was intended to try and get 450Nm of torque. What they eventually achieved was somewhere near to 419Nm which is still a significant amount. The power figure is approx 380 bhp. How do I know this?
1. from speaking to Ralliart about the spec and
2. from knowing the owner of the Evo V RS450 that is in the magazine features you're all talking about.

Trigger since when was the ratio between RPM and speed parallel? My car does 50 mph in 5th at 2000rpm but doesnt even hit 90mph at 4000rpm so I dont see how you arrived at those figures?
#16
Of course it is linear. That is exactly what a gear ratio means. Each gear your engine is attached to is not of varying size, so for each revolution, the wheels will turn a fixed distance. Unless of course you have CVT system (Continual variable transmission). You will get a figure for mph per 1000 rpm on most road tests.
The speedo on your car has some errors so it isnt exactly accurate which may cause some difference but not much. Or maybe your clutch is slipping.

rs450's have been dynod at around 380lb/ft and 360 bhp. Doesn't sound a lot given the cost of the conversion (15 grand) but the conversion is a very very top notch job. Forged internals, uprated everything and proper gems ecu that allows 2 bar bost during the midrange. The gearing is the shorter RS gearing so that has a very significant effect on 0-100 times which IMO (and according to an ex-owner of a 6 RS450 that i know) would be sub 9 seconds. Also the car comes with als as standard which is switchable. Top speed would be slightly down but over 140mph. The car is not particualrly good on the road especially at idle etc.. but it doesn't half fly. You can be pretty certain that the engine wont blow up as well. Incidentally, there is one for sale at ralliartuk.com at the moment - up for 32 grand. Given that its an extreme (40K) with a 15K upgrade on it (55K) its not too bad value really.

I was interested in the evo 6 rs450 that they have at ralliart.
When i got there they told me that the car was in fact 360bhp and 380lbs ft I later took the car for a test drive. The car did seem quite quick but not over impressive which i thought it might be as they calim it will do sub 9 secs to 100mph. In the end decided to stick a hybrid turbo injectors fuel pump and a gems ecu with the anti lag, must say that my car feels quicker than the evo.
This was all thanks to Scooby mania, Steve Simpson and a few others.
ps the evo 6 rs450 has the normal type gearing unlike the 5 which had the shorter ratio box.

EDIT: Just read the linked lancerregister topic, it looks like the 450 was intended torque (not actual)... /EDIT
From memory, the RS450 moniker is for 450Nm (not ft/lb) torque, and the short gearing means it doesn't reach 155mph, more like 110 off the limiter in top. Not your traditional street cruiser, more built for track/rally work or the total nutter that just has to be the quickest (but not fastest ) car in the area.
Nice motors, but with a bit of work (ie. lots of wedge ) you can get the same figures from an Evo GSR or WRX/P1, and keep the longer gears.

John, follow my link to the lancerbbs above. If that was your RS450 wouldn't you be a tad annoyed that its nowhere near 450bhp?? I would, especially with the money spent.
Autocar 'alledgedly' isn't the best when it comes to printing accurate information, I believe they've made a few howlers about the Impreza in the past.
Like EvoRSX, I've spoken to the owner of the car and also the bloke behind the RS450 at Ralliart. I dont recall either of them saying the car was 450bhp.
Still, if you want to believe everything you read, fine!
