Hilux - Check for leaking front hubs.

Rust on older ones.

My old one had both, had to sell it cheap as would have cost too much to repair

L200 had head issues, I think on models plated 02 - 53. Check here General Discussion

L200 are ok, but need the power upgrade. Very tail happy when unloaded. JDM ones come in 2.8 / auto setup which is what I would want.

If you buy a L200 go for one that has no VAT !

For me, I have a pajero 2.8 exceed, but prefer the hilux.

Also, maybe consider a Ford Ranger. When these were introduced in 1999, they got "best pickup of the year" in Whatvan mag. They are fantastic realiable trucks that tend not to be so overpriced as Hilux and L200. Ive had 2 now and cant rate them highly enough.
Was recently chatting to a tradesman who through his firm, has driven most of the pickups avaliable and he said that the Ranger also towed the best as well. I cant comment on this because never towed with mine but it was good to hear someone endorse it who has!
