Because the car is registered after 2001 it would fall into a certain Tax band which related to the cars CO2 emissions.
The bands are
A
Up to 100 g/km = £0.00
B
101-120 g/km = £35 per year
C
121-150 g/km = £120 per year
D
151-165 g/km = £145 per year
E
166-185 g/km = £170 per year
F
Over 185 g/km = £210 per year
G
Over 225 g/kmfor cars registered on or after 23/03/06
£400.00 per year!!!!!!!!!!!
I know this is a bit geeky but hope it helps

Shout if you want to know anything specific, Personally I could not fault the engine.

They are very nice car's to be in and drive, you will find it a very different driving experience to the Subaru though. Doesn't have the same kick, just smooth power, much more of a stealth car than the subaru too

We've got one at work.Nice car-sonds fantastic with good handling but the fuel economy was worse than my modded scooby.Only does about 230 miles per tank
Oh and looking at your car(nice!),i think you would get bored of it quite quickly

230 miles per tank! I drive mine hard and I still get about 280-330 miles (obviously 330 is on the motorway for the vast majority of time) out of mine.
It is indeed a nice car and the toys it offers are good as well. Mine has done nearly 70k and I've owned it since new. Mine chews front tyres and they last about 8-10k so be aware of this. Servicing is done every 12.5k miles.
The new VED is a major downside to it but other than that it's not a bad car. However, you will find that it's not as quick as you think but it's still not too bad. There aren't too many things you can do to increase the bhp either apart from the normal induction kits, BlueFin, etc... but then you are only talking minimal improvements and hence why I've never bothered with it all.

230 per tank, that would be an improvment to mine, ive had it over 2 yrs and only seen 180 once, average 140 miles per tank.
But did some research about this st220 and a m8 did a hpi for me and its had 5 owners, basically works out 1 owner every year nearly, its had finance out but has been swapped over to an audi but reckommened to search further into it and a plate change, to me something doesnt add up, plus i didnt want a ford and would of sold straight on but have since been made a cash deal from another person for the subaru, which means i can get the bmw i,ve been after and will holds it value more than the mondeo.

Trust me im already regretting it, it took me over a year to find one that i thought " thats the one for me". The car has been so well looked after and the condition of the car then the power and handling makes it lot harder to find a replacement, but i like the drive of the bmw, but i can see myself back with a classic one day for sure.

it does get driven properly but most of the time just normal driving but 90% of the time is short distances taking the misses to work or shopping so car normally is driven for about 10mins at the most.

The Forester falls in Group M come March, the same as my Jeep.

I see more and more tv car adverts these days showing mpg figs and ved bands as the sole selling point in the advert. I believe these new bands won't be reversed and high co2 cars will be taxed more and more, they're even upping pre 2001 cars over 1.6 litres to £200 2009-2010.
Nothing at all has been mentioned about these rates due to the economy at the moment so a lot of people will wake up one morning with a bill for tax at twice the previous rate.
