Does anyone know where I could look for an old project car?

Classic car sites tend to want silly prices, that you could almost buy a good one for. Pistonheads isn't much use as I don't actually know what I'm looking for.

Cheers

I'm open to anything really, but it has to be not silly prices for parts and a little different. between a tenner and 1K to buy, though flexible depending on what it is.

My thought's were, something american, VW camper, Mini, Capri, MG, old jap car. Maybe a MK3 RS1600. Lancia or Alfa of some description. I've never liked the triumphs really, and I don't want to go too luxury as I'm no good with interiors.

I was hoping there would be some site dedicated to this sort of thing, Any ideas for cars would be good though. How about some favorite cars of the past that you don't see much anymore for a bit of inspiration?

mk1 or mk2 xr2?

I'd spend as much as you can, as with any car really! Just make sure the shell is solid!

Mk1 now theres an idea

Just found a lancia montecarlo, but I think 1K is a bit much for what is essentially scrap. That's top of the list so far though.

I'd definitely be interested in a sport 1600HF that's the car that makes me think lancia, not really a '64 1200 though.

1600HF are rare and expensive (Lancia : 1972 Lancia Fulvia HF 1600) , the 1300s are more common. Nice s3 non runner on ebay but priced at about £2500
