barn find
possibly a very good find, an old nieghbour ask me to help him move house, and in one of his sheds (farm) is a mk2 escort, flat front , arched, alloys(look like minilits),,and the engine has the plugs down the center of a massive head,,loads of gear on it ,,hit at the back(hard),,,,he asked me £1500 for it,,
has been in the shed for 25yrs since his son died,,,,,it has a blue strip up the door, but im not sure what it is
any ideas

Sounds like if you have a twin cam head, it could be a BDA engine in which case find the 1500 quid asap, even if it's not a pukka BDA, it still could be something like a vulcan 16v head on a pinto block (i think i have that right though probably not), which in any case would be worth the 1500 quid.
If you are having second thoughts give me a pm and i'll go and buy it

With the plugs down the middle its either a BDA or a Lotus Twinc. If its an original car then itll be a BDA (assuming it is a MK2 as implied by the OP). RS1800s didnt come with arches though, the standard cars had standard arches.....

Warrior heads also had the plugs down the centre too.
Warriors had WARRIOR cast into a single large deeply grooved rocker cover,
Twin Cams had LOTUS in raised letters on two distinctly separate cam box covers,
BDAs had FORD cast into a very large almost flat cover.

By the sounds of the spec, the Escort most likely did the actual hitting, probably after sliding off the road (stage?) backwards
Quite a common occurence for a Mk2 when used properly and the driver overcooks it, seen it first hand from the passenger seat on more than one occasion

A twin cam Escort of any variety is a good find. However, I would probe a little deeper before forking out £1500
You need to ask why it was stuffed in the shed for 25years. Ok, rear end is bumped, bit did it happen to fly off the crest of a hill and flatten all the chassis rails and bend the strut mounts when it landed?? (before spinning off and rear-ending a tree ). And is the engine seized? Bear in mind BDAs (Belt Driven - version A ) do have cambelts, so has it slipped, or broken? damaging the valves - or in the worst case breaking a valve head off and ruining that precious cylinder head.
I'd still say go for it, just go into it with your eyes open.

If it hasn't got the lower spoiler like the Mexico it could be the harrier which was the ltd edition of the 1600 sport just before the MK3 started production

Or did his son put it there, and it hasn't been touched since he died IYSWIM
Like my Land Rover I bought out of a Welsh valley, where the owner died and it wasn't touched since...he laid it up before he died. For what reason...not too sure, as the tin worm had a good 10 years munching at it before we got to it.
