So i bought an Alfa for my first car
AND I FOOKING LOVE IT.
Its a 147 1.6Tspark Lusso with electric(when working) everything! And its the 120bhp version so its very nippy for a first car Everyone who drives it falls for it and have even converted 2 mates to buy "real mens" cars
Have had it a since last Monday with the following faults:
Dodgey electric windows
ABS failure light on start up
Indicators didn't feel like working
and keyfob broken
Other than that FLAWLESS
I really love this car its fantastic!!! I have some Alfa goodies to chav it up coming in the post and hopefully going to lower it 35mm and put some nice Teledial alloys on it and jobs a goodin.
I'll put some better pics up tomorrow after i get her cleaned and get some decent scenery

Love it! I love Alfas and you have got every petrolheads Alfa box ticked for your first car. Everyone should own an Alfa at some time in their life. I havent, but I will. Would like a GTA 156 personally. I hope you enjoy it and dont get stung too often!

i've always been a ford/subaru fan but i can honestly say after just a week of this car and even though the trouble it has caused lol my next car with be a more powerful alfa. It is just incrediblely well specs and flattering to drive unlike the fords i've been in... not drove an impreza turbo yet

First car I ever bought was an Alfa GTV6 the old wedge one.
That picture wasn't mine but it was like that.
You had to be a gibbon to drive it (Short legs & long arms). I actually had to lean up out of the seat to reach 1st and 3rd gears!
It most definately had numerous faults but what a car.

Just be CERTAIN that the timing belt was changed at the right point in the sevice schedule.... I worked with a lad who payed big money for a car that was due a TB, but he couldn't afford to do it. Guess what, two weeks later it snapped.... I had an Alfa, and loved it all the way to a rusty early death.

Back in May I traded in a 2002 WRX for the 147 JTDM, the first 3 days I really hated the Alfa, but I have now done 3000 miles in it, around 47mpg , been totally reliable, really lovely interior, and no nobody want to race you ,and people let you in and out the traffic,
Pleased to say I really love the Alfa !
p.s. get the belts checked 36000 miles max, its just so important

belt was down 3 weeks ago as its 72k service interval, it has a full alfa service history too which aint bad for a car that cost me less than a fiesta!

Nice - I run a 2002 147 Lusso as my everyday car. It's a great little car. Mine is the 120bhp 1.6 aswell, but it's been boosted to around 135, which makes it quite nippy! I love the fab big leather seats in mine and it still looks great with 60K on the clock. Even got my iPod hooked up to the decent stereo.
Good news about the cambelt - they really are the thing to watch. Alfa changed the official service interval from 72K to 36K miles for cambelt changes.
Also keep an eye on the oil level - some Alfa's use a lot, others don't. There is no real reason for the difference, but just get into the habit of checking it on a regular basis. Other than that, it's a sweet little car

My sister was a victim of the Alfa 147 cambelt curse, her belt went somewhere in the region of 65k miles just as she'd agreed a deal to chop it in for a brand new Skoda. She lost a few grand as a result of it
