It should be in the head james. Most cars have two sensors, one for the temperature gauge and one for the overheating warning.

Eratic idle is more likely to be the *whatsit* controller. I'll try to be more helpful when I can remember what the ****er is called.

just did a search on the 206 forum and loads of people have had the same problem and they either say its the coolant temp sensor or the coil pack, the coolant temp sensor is the most common one to go though...

theres several sensors on the engine but I dont what does what.

if memory serves me correctly it will be on r/h side of engine above the gearbox, ecu temp sensor is usually a green plug.

Depends when your eratic idle is happening as well, is it all the time whether the engine is hot or cold?

The temp sensor controls some of the fuelling so if its duff it will be adding too much fuel at certain points, usually adding more fuel than needed and running very rich.

Is it using more fuel than normal?
