That is proper retro.
Got to admit, from your threads and stories with Jackos Mate etc the mental image I have of you does not fit in that car

Cheers, Some Minilites may be in order at some point but I think we have spent enough for the time being !
Just hope its as good as it looks when we pick it up, I then have a 60 mile journey to do in it.
Its funny, we get so worrid about performance figures and bhp, the one we had before was great fun, all 19 bhp of it, it conking out and refusing to go wasnt much fun though, hopefully this one will be better in that repect, plus this ones RHD.
Fingers crossed will report back when (if) I get back in it. 16 stone of me might help its camber issues..... They all look like that, honest.

This is my only photo of me on Photobuket, its a while ago but as you can see I will still fit in diminuative Fiats, even allowing for perhaps an extra stone since then.
Have driven one before, have to be careful though, I get out and its easy to et the seatbelt caught and drag it into the shop

I believe a strong man can indeed pick up one end or tother
i was last in one ( our next door neighbour) in 1983 i think same colour on its last legs but we went 4 up (adults) for a 20 mile trip - quite noisy .
was run on an absolute shoestring ,in fact he made a flywheel out of wood

Nice little car. I do like small rear engined stuff
Wouldn't mind a Simca 1100 Rallye, The coupe Hillman Imps variants, If my bank balance permitted a Renault Alpine A110.
Not rear engined, but cool the Honda Z

Just looked in the mirror, some of the youth has ebbed away overnight, add ten years to that pic as I have been up all night doing a server migration, I look knackered and need a shave.
Its the wife with the taste in cars.

Simca, thats a name you dont hear much these days, my old Pug 309 had a Simca engine, sounded like a sewing machine but quite sporty.
That green one is proof that anything can have some mojo with the right wheels, a black bonnet and some lowering springs !

Thanks for enlightening the viewer with my various lookalikes,
your spot on with them, car loooks tidy as well mate.
i did wonder how you'd struggle getting over the big hill on the m60 from leeds, but i suspect with those ear lugs on your picture posted earlier , you will wind both windows down stick one out of each window and wait for the wind to blow you over the tops
your spot on with them, car loooks tidy as well mate.

Oh well, maybe next time, the "rust and rot free" in the ad was not strictly true, crusty edges, worms under the paint, several shades of Orange and a fair amount of filler so we walked away. Felt a bit guilty as its an Ebay auction but it wasn't as advertised.
We might go to see another in north Wales next week which looks a lot better, basically a new car, bit dearer but I am not intending buying a someone elses rust and then doing it up, will be dearer than buyign a decent one thats already been done.
Just been chatting with my brother in law, he lives in Oxford and is up for the weekend, he has a Frogeye Sprite at his Mums thats doing nothing, tried to get it going, fuel pump is dead so I have whipped that off and am going to get another and recommision it, then sell it for him and I can use it in the meantime, I am turning into classic car man !

Hey, its you that always sneaks a port in a last orders !
I like modern cars, but am kind of getting into older ones again, maybe because its not my only car now.
Can you imagine us two in a Frogeye Sprite, those Froggy eyes would be bulging, it would look like Mario Cart !

So there I am driving home on the M1 today (near Northampton), when I see a big crane with flashing lights pull in to the middle lane to overtake some thing.
Bugger me....who would drive slower than a crane
I explained to my good lady that a bloke on SN just bought one of them.....

Yep, as standard (499 cc) they do a heady 53 mph with their 19 bhp, to be honest that makes motorways not an option, the one we are looking at next weekend has the 126 engine which is 650 cc, in the 126 it gives a top speed of 69 mph, it cuts the 0-60 from **never** to 46.6 seconds, this one has an Abarth carb and exhaust which may liberate a little extra power. Also, the 500 is about 100 kilos lighter than the 126, weighing only 530 kilos ! if only she would let me carve it up to put a Busa engine in it.
My wife was ceptical when I was saying go for a converted one rather than the standard 500 as a lot have the upgrade to 126 power, she thinks I always want more power but I think its safer to have more just so people dont get as frutrated and make daft maneuvers, round town with 25 bhp it should at least keep up with the traffic though it would be easy to end up being drawn into the tractor beam style air intakes of a Cayenne Turbo.
Davyboy, just for the record, its my wife thats buying it ! I do kind of like them but would never buy one but seeing as its going to happen I may as well enjoy it, though the feeling that the money would by a lovely Mk1 Capri wont go away.

The first post on this thread contains pics of a fiat 500, reg plate DWN 467K.
I saw that car on the M1 last night around 6.45 near Northampton, being over taken by a bloody great crane.
