That's a DC2 Type R produced for the European market between 98 to 2001. Regarded by EVO as the greatest FWD sports car ever and was also in their top ten of the greatest sports cars ever made. High praise indeed.

I have one as well as an MY05 STI PPP and I'd say I prefer the Teg to the STI, it just feels so special. OK its nowhere near as quick as th STI but it just goes around corners like its on rails, its as light as a feather and is as raw as a French steak.

0 to 60 in 6.2 seconds and 0 to 100 in less than 17 is still quick even by todays standards. Most of the lumbering hot hatches with far more power struggle to get near those figures.

Get one you won't regret it.

Never produced in Europe, but I know what you mean

Really cracking cars, I loved mine and would recommend one to anyone.

Bear in mind the DC2 model from 1999 included the MOMO steering wheel (which is distinguished by the red H in the middle) which makes the T reg and onwards DC2's even more desirable IMO.

If you can find a low mileage, one owner example with air con then its going to drop in value very slowly

I wish now I had kept hold of my 99 black one with 38k miles on it, in terms of depreciation, it would have been the least I have ever owned by an absolute mile

and to boot it was a great owning experience

The car was made in Japan of course, sorry for any confusion.

Great cars, beautiful and supposedly very good handling.

Theres 3 things to take note of...

Basically 3 different models to choose from if im not mistaken.

-The first batch of cars made (96?) these come with 4 stud wheels.
-The second bacth (98>?) these come with 5 stud wheels.
-Finally I assume the european models had the same as above, but obviously the european models have the circular headlights and the JDM cars have big regtangular lights.

So the newer model, altho basically the same car, is "slightly" better.

good luck

If you go JDM then you hve got the choice of the 96 model or the 98> model which has substansial changes made to the engine, gearbox, chassis and wheel size.

If you go European its basically a 98> JDM car with different head lights (much better) and around 5bhp less.

JDM 98 cars have stainless Exhausts and manifolds, different driveshafts, HID lights as standard- than UK cars. and of course 96 spec 4 stud cars.

Milage does not matter if looked after, many on 200k reving to 9k all day evry day

I have just got a 100k 98 spec car for the track. Tight as a nut and i forgot how great they are to drive- currenttly caged and being modded for the track i cant wait.

THE DC2 forum is the one to search on

It's a 2000, on an X plate Alex. or is it Robin? Or perhaps Jason? or maybe Jaycee?

If you're really interested, rather than just trolling, that car was originally supplied to George Albertz when he played for Glasgow Rangers.

Good effort though, especially with your other post

This is one car I've wanted to try out since I saw a group test in Top Gear Magazine back in 2000 with a Racing Puma and Phase 1 Clio 172... and its in the top 3 replacements to my STi if/when it goes.

Cheers,
Grant

IMHO the UK ones look better because of this. Owned a white one a few years back
