Astra 1.7td help wanted...
Hi, hopefully im on the right section to post this..
Well i bought myself an astra diesel van for work and oddjobs but after only having it for 5 minutes the Engine seems to be on its way out.
Its the GM td engine, but i hear the Isuzu 1.7td engine is alot more bulletproff so im wanting to know if the isuzu engine will drop straight in after removing the gm engine or will i need alot of other stuff to completer the transplant?
Thanks in advance

in my opinion i would say it would be more trouble than its worth but each to their own i suppose.

I have the 1.7 dti y reg 16v ,,
The engine is about the only thing any good and that debatable,
There have been oil in the water for the last 3 yrs,
They don't no if it the oil cooler and head gasket,
The engine management is always on, glow plugs apparently,
If you go at say 70mph from cold it cuts the turbo out,
Your gm engine is defo no worse if you can source one than the isuzu crap
All gm are crap

we ran the isuzu engined ones while vauxhall did them with unlimited mileage warranties, lets say they revoked the warranties on us in the end and took the vans back, they were going through head gaskets every 40K and you could can only skim the heads twice so on vehicles doing 100k a year as you might imagine vauxhall got the hump rather fast. So I'd say don't go to the hastle
