No 4x4 same volvo motor and the same 'teaser shot' subaru got slagged for on TG because the case was ugly! hmph!

Sure it will go well but should be a 4x4 car.

It doesn't say it will be FWD though, does it?

TBH I doubt Ford would be that stupid not to give it 4WD. I hope so anyway.

This is the news I've been waiting for. Was seriously debating getting an Audi S3 next year, now the RS is coming back, 2009 can't come soon enough.

Might visit my local Ford garage this weekend. Make sure I'm top of the list.

Please be 4wd, please

280BHP sound limp too, 300bhp+ would be better. Nothing a chip can't sort out anyway.

How come subaru are keeping the uk wrx to 225? cause at this rate anyone without sti power will not keep up with these upcoming new cars, unless you have imported classics like mine but mines still only 280-290 at the mo.

Can't stop looking at that picture. The more I look at it more more I want one. It looks f*cking awsome.

I've been waiting for this car for years. Right after I got rid of my last Focus RS.

It really has made my day. Sad I know, but true.

I'll eat all the sprouts off my plate if that RS is 4WD. Not at 25K it won't be.

I saw a Focus ST today (the new shape one) but on the back it was badged "RS500" rather than "RS". Was that just the owner sticking a silly badge on, or did they actually make a Focus RS500?

The badge looked 'right' if you know what I mean, it wasn't a Halfords one in a blatantly different font etc.

They do a ST500.

Basically an ST with a few cosmetic tweeks. Only 500 to be made.

If its not 4wd i cant see the point.

Some extra kit and some bodywork over the ST.

You can chip an ST to an easy 280bhp

Must be 4wd, what an error from Ford if its not.

Totally agree - when will Ford and Vauxhall get it into their heads that they will not be able to compete with the likes of Subaru and Mitsuibishi without introducing 4wd to their cars, fwd has come on in spades but no matter what the laws of physics limit to what uyou can put through the front wheels.

I suspect if Ford make it 4wd it will steal loads of sales from Subaru - especially as it is so damn ugly.

Wouldn't they go back to RWD before 4WD?

That wouldn't be ideal but for did use RWD for the first RS and Vauxhall seem to be happy enough with RWD for their Monaro/VXR8.

No they didn't. The First Focus RS was Fwd. The Americans converted a Focus RS to RWD and shoehorned a V8 under the bonnet. But that was just a showcase for the new crate V8 engine.

Think he was trying to say the original RS was RWD not the focus

Doubt ford would ever make the focus rear wheel drive only, have too many boy racers spinning off into the trees!

Needs rally to get to grips with this and insist on cars to be developed from road going versions.

Never happen again of course, the development costs are too high but a proper cosworth awd special would be something to behold.

well it will be kind of be fwd most of the time, only kicks power to the rear when the computer says so, 90% power at fwd wheels. Ive got the S60R, which has the awd system in question.
