Default Plug in chip for Astra Diesel

I'm after some info on plug in modules/chips for the 1.7 CDTI Astra diesel, 56 plate. I believe you can get up to 25 bhp increase.

I've heard Denso/Bosch do the plug in modules for approx £300??

Any ideas?

I've fitted a few of these over the recent years - mainly on commercials: Home » Diesel Power Tuning - Specialists in Diesel Tuning, Diesel Power and Diesel Performance using the DPT Tuning Box

Usually just plugs between the fuel pressure sensor and modifies the fuel pressure signal to increase the fueling when on boost.

Not a bad little unit, comes with nicely made pre-made looms, so just plugs in. So it can be easily removed, re-programed and fitted into another car - so long as its a recent diesel most common rail and PD diesel vehicles are supported, including trucks.

Theres quite a few on ebay.

But have a look here first as the 1.7 engine can be a bit funny with the plug and play boxes.

25bhp?

You'd hardly even feel that. You could take the spare wheel out for similar performance gains.

I don't get it.

Well its hardly productive is it?

The difference on these is noticeable. Albeit nothing massive. But neither is some ECU remaps. (especially on diesels with small or no intercoolers).

The DPT units can be programmed to give even more power, but it would need to be programmed on a individual car basis, so therefore it will not be plug and play.

True, but why bother with a cone filter on scoobies etc, debatable whats gains you get from them and in most unturbo'd applications can result in hp loss. You're never going to get massive gains through a simple map, though 25bhp and the equivalent increase in torque is probably worth the effort for making the car a bit more interesting to drive, and lets face it, as with my daily hack, diesel cars of this ilk need all the help they can get.

On a petrol performance car I can see the appeal of having something that sounds a little more sporty.

Were talking about a 1.7 Vauxhall Diesel here.......not something I'd suggest that was bought for a driving experience.

Blimin hell, give the guy a break, a 25% increase in power and torque and you reckon he wont feel a difference, of course he will ? I wouldn't buy an Impreza for the driving experience .......... it is very very fast from here to there but driving experience ?

but theres no reason for him not to pep up there current car with a bit more power. Why not make it a bit more interesting?

It's a bit like a while back someone saying, why would you buy a Zafira GSI or VXR, just because you have to have a certain type or style of car doesn't mean you have to put up with it being boring.
