Garage find

Garage find
One of my mates called me yesterday afternoon and said his girlfriends uncle had passed away and there was a double garage at his house. He opened the 2nd garage and found this
I've just got home from seeing it. We managed to work out from stuff inside the car that it had been parked up some time in 1977 We tried to get it out of the garage but my mate made the mistake of pulling up the handbrake and it's stuck on at the moment, its not a big job to fix though because I made the same mistake on my capri a few months ago We also tried to turn the engine over but as expected after 30 years it's seized solid I took the plugs out and we sprayed wd40 down the bores but we were short of tools and couldn't turn it over manually We did get chance to give it a quick clean though.
We started off by inflating the tyres and to our surprise they did go up.
The front panel is a little tatty but we found a new one in the garage with the car
I was shocked at the condition of the battery tray.
We gave it a very quick wash to see what was under the 30 years of filth and grime. It seems in good order and nothing that couldn't be sorted with a rub down & respray. It needs plating in a couple of places but nothing serious.

Like the steering wheel
Fog lamps look quite funky...may come in handy at dazzling those feejits that drive about with their front fog lamps on

Get yourself over to Turbosport Entrance . There are loads of people that would love to know about that car. I would love a car like that with either an s2000 or turbo cossie lump in it. Which reminds me i must get back into the garage and finish off my current project.

Its lucky you found it, I showed my wife and she failed to share my enthusiasm and said something about how it would be a pain to have to get rid of such a ratty old heap when you move somewhere.

If Paul can get his hand on a good battery de-sulphator. It might actually work!
I recovered a 20yr old battery that was on one of my old bikes! Couldn't belive it myself - seems old batteries are a bit more robust.

Very nice,
Id soon fill that engine bay with something 'suitable'.
There used to be a place called ExPressed panels in Keighly. Probaly gone out of buiness but they supplied me with loads of original spec panels mid 90's when I last did a MK1.
If not, there's a guy on Projects who is doing s MK1/Scooby project. Im sure I read he has a mate who breaks rally cars.

wow..what a find..I'de love another 2 dr MK1...
See piccys from an escort I brought back in 1984, that was a delux model, which had the bigger gearbox tunnel for better gearboxes...mine had a three rail rocket box fitted...
First colour scheme which stood out like a sore thumb, but looked the part & had all the bits on board, inc ex ford works twin hump rally dash board.. would you believe that the paintwork was all brush painted....
Second build, a little more discreet, however all the bits were there from before, just had a little more power.
Final build was the same as above with exception to having the alloy tarmac arches from a MK2 escort fitted, the arches were then cut back upto the centre body line on the rear, plus tubbed with 8" revolutions fitted...sadly I can't find the pictures of that..but it looked mega.
I guess My Scoob reminds me of my escort, I just love classic motors...and I would get rid of my scoob to have that escort back any day....
