...it's a Suzuki Jimny JLX!
Picked up a 55 reg, 15k mile, metallic blue soft top for wife to use (mainly).
Frees me up to surf further away while she horse rides and they are quite stupidly good off road (outdoing Defenders in many cases).
Cheap to run too.
Splendid.

Oh dear, you aren't very clued up on off roaders then...!
YouTube - Trial veroia Jimny
YouTube - Jimny trial
YouTube - Jimny
One of very few off roaders with a proper low ratio box.
They can go places Land Rovers can't due to low weight.

Nice one Those youtube vids are not standard Jimnys- lol The one you have is the same as my neighbours....truly awful! I think they may be OK offroad but everything else - ie. 99.9% of UK usage is on road and they are poo.
At least it's for the missus and not you - lol

Why have my inlaws and their parents got one each? They could literally buy ANY car they wanted. The true spirit of SN shines though again.
The Jimny is for towing our speedboat, some off road trialling and as a useful 2nd car. Nothing gets close to doing the job they do.
You lot are complete ******.
So this is the very last time I use SN.
We buy something to help cheer up my wife (who lost our first baby a month ago), you bunch of thickos with no idea about anything slag it off without a single ounce of knowledge.
**** off the lot of you.
I'm not coming back.

Yup....Calm down Matteeboy, you are bang out of order.
As I said in your other moaning thread, most people on here know times have been tough for you and your lady recently, but try and take things easy for your own sake
Can now see why you got into so many scraps with a temper like that

My folks nearly got one - I persuaded them it was rubbish on anything other than very short road trips and would depreciate in freefall.
In it's uber micro niche of driving on flat dry fields I sure it's great but I'd definitely be going for a lengthy test drive so make sure you know why it's being bought.

Took the wife's old Jimny through a river in Braemar as all the bigger 4x4 drivers looked on and shat themselves.
Jimny's are great in the snow too - left the Scoob for dead anywhere it went - nice thin tyres and a great 4x4 system.
The reason they wont go up hills isn't because of lack of grip - it's the hairdryer they've put in place of the engine that's the problem

I thought they used to be known as the Suzuki Rollover when they first came out?
Actually had a Diahatsu version on holiday in Cyrus though and it wasn't that bad on the rough stuff. Awful on road but did have the big chunky tyres on.
Lass at work just sold her red one. Taken her an absolute age though and lost a lot on it (had it from new) given what she had to sell for they should make sense used.

So not many of you guys go off road then.
I'm always suprised at what the little Suzuki's are capable of on the right tyres and they are very cheap and easy to mod. They will put many high cost SUV's to shame.
A quick suspension lift and a set of larger wheels and MT tyres and they are awsome.
Just the job for the beach/surf/boat/horse use that Matteboy indends to use it for.
These are modded early Suzuki's but running standard engine, transmissions and 4X4 setups.

the problem with most off roaders that get a bad rep isnt the car,its folk that dont know how to use a low ratio box properly and diff lock.I had a wee SJ410 a while back, was handy for transporting stuff around the golf course i work at,even managed to pull a smart a**e in a discovery out of a field who got stuck as he didnt have a clue how to drive it properly

4X4 Magazine have an SJ on their fleet and it's suprising where it will go.
Turn up at an off road event in a Suzuki and most will show interest and respect for what it will do for so little money.
If you turned up with a X5 or ML everyone would fall about laughing.
Cheers

Mateeboy, didnt mean to offend!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chill out mate!!!!!
Have a coke and a smile!!!!!
And btw, what you on about, **** all knowledge, ive driven everything from a landie with a v8 to a suzuki sj to a diesel range, and the jimny in standard form is not very good, if you put suspension and tyres on it then maybe , but then its hardly standard and will have bumped the price up by a grand!!

I suspect those taking the pi55 earlier in the thread feel a little silly.
Matteeboy knew what he was buying and knew it was upto the Job. Just a shame some had to have a dig even though they have probably never done any off roading themselves.
