I know you need three pairs of eyes to read all the instruments inside the car!

We have had an umber of reliability problems with ours. It was however one of the first ones out of the factory. Problems we have had:-

rear dampers replaced
new ECU
new battery
lights misting up
lots of creaks/ squeaks form the dash
radio reception is not good
fuel filler would not open

When you consider Honda reputation for reliability then I have been quite disappointed so far.

Had ours since Feb and haven't had a single problem in 6k miles, cheap to run, tax, insure and service and always does at least 50mpg on a mixed run.

Very quick, faster than our previous BMW 320CD, and a very very nice car to own in general.

I've waxed about it before on here so search for what I said back then. Only downside is poor rear vision, although I've noticed since it's gone dark that the band across the rear window blocks out light glare from behind which is good

Lots of very nice details if thats what you like, plus our ES version has all the toys we could want (and they all work).

They have come down in price now as well.

Just remember when reading Civinfo that they are all doom & gloom merchants - I remember reading through that forum and panicking that my Civic was about to fall to pieces the day we picked it up, but it's been fine.

Ours is the 2007 model though, so as andy says maybe his was the first of the troublesome ones.

M8 of mines got one and had a few issuses with knocking rear suspension but apart from that it's been ok.

Not driven it but it seems to pull nicely from low down as diesels do, very nice interior and with the panoramic glass roof it's a nice place to be inside.

I bought a 3door typeS diesel in october as a daily driver. Engine and gearbox are fantastic engine almost silent many people have thought it was a petrol. Pulls from 1500rpm to 4500 no matter what gear its in. Engine has a timing chain so no more expensive cam belt changes. Also getting average of 48mpg which includes motorway town and A roads. Gearbox has to be the finest ive used so slick and quick. Handling is typical front wheel drive understeer when on the limit but grip is good and the VSA does not cut in often even in the wet.
Bad points are knocking from rear which i fixed with a different exhuast mount rubber. Windscreen creaks which i fixed with silca spray.
Oh and it looks fantastic both inside and out really dates all the other euro boxes on the road.
