535 diesel what's possible
If I was to move over to one of these what sort of power could I expect from a remap and where else is there to go from that? Exhaust or intercooler?
I really fancy one but would need over 350bhp just to keep up with my scoob.

It's not the bhp that's the thing with the 535d, it's the torque. They're allegedly monsters in the mid range. And, if some of the stories on here are correct about 330d's being a bit of a devil to keep up with mid-range, the 535d remapped could be a bit of a mover. DMS are one of the better recognised tuners it seems... DMS Automotive - Discrete engine upgrades for European cars
According to Evo, it's 344bhp and 506lb/ft. BMW 5-Series | evo Car Reviews | Car Reviews | evo

I considered one myself, then felt I wasn't yet old enough to put my slippers on, dress in beige and listen to Radio 4.
Plus, they don't sound right and I hate the short rev range that diesels have. Oh, and after I drove a 335d m-sport, didn't think even that felt special enough to warrant that much cash. Though I do sometimes like the idea of comfort, reasonable economy and the toys, but's that's just the age coming out in me again..lol!!!

tested a 535d touring, felt dog slow but the speedo said otherwise. can pick up a loaded 535d m sport with <10k for 32/32k from a dealer now, the looks are a big grower and i think with a remap it would be quick. Shame about the noise!

Regardless of what anyones says, mine should still be delivered mid December
Go test drive the car yourself mate, everyone will give you their own opinion which not necessarily be the same for you.
I have mixed reviews on the Q7, so much so that Clarkson reckons its fugly, but I would say otherwise. I love the car to bits hence the reason buyin one with most optional extras infact all optional extras bar one which is the panoramic roof

Ive got the 535d, it does feel slow if you just put your foot hard to the floor, u have to learn how to get the best from it, if you give it 80% throttle it goes much better, keeps the revs slightly lower, which keeps u better placed in the torque band, if you floor it, it swings you round to the rev limiter, taking u out of the sweet spot.
but mid range is the best part of the car, for the daily use, with the other poor fools on the road, you be hard pushed to beat it.

ps - Ive kept up with lots of sti's/ and some Ive had to let off the throttle pedal, so not to hit up the behind on the track.

Does it really feel slow ?, I have seen a 335d getting thrapped, it looked anything but slow !
I think you lot get power addled and forget what slow is, and also the fact you can have fun going (comparatively) slowly.

I dont know about other people. Having had 4 imprezas in my family and an evo, I wouldnt say the 535d feels or is slow.
The only thing is, because its so well built you dont realise how quick you are going at times. The car performed better than I expected hence the reason I bought mine or shall I say we bought ours. But do remember, whilst you get top performance, you also get the luxury

They are great, was behind one doing 40 ish in a well modded bugeye and it left us for dead.
Upto and beyond 3 figures it was un-catchable.
A mate has a DMS fettled 335D which is breathtaking and still does 40mpg.
