You need a diesel then.

I can highly recommend the Mondeo ST TDCi

Almost any VAG group turbo-diesel plus a re-map, pal has an Ibiza with 220 bhp and up to 400 lb.ft. of torque.... and it will do 50 mpg if you can put your sensible head on !

Dunx

P.S. turbo-diesel Impreza coming....

I run a mk4 Golf 1.9TDI the 130bhp +remapped additional 20% to give 160bhp ish, (would do more but its an estate and I tow with it, so have to be mindful of the clutch, and its my daily driver). Its got more torque then the old mans 3.0 V6 ST 220 and it feels like it!!! Even with the remap and 235 18's I am getting 45mpg every day and up to 50 if i am on the motorway for extended periods!

As dunx says, get yourself a VAG TDI from about a 51 plate onwards and get down the tuners!
