Question Lexus IS220d

Thinking of getting the above car as i will do doing upto 500miles a week for my new job.

Do you guys know of any problems with this car as from the websote and reveiws it seems the complete package.

Any other cars to consider that have all the options?

Great quality, good kit, but possibly the poorest of all the modern diesels in the engine department.

Not that smooth, very narrow power band.

We do a bit of work for our local lexus dealer and in january picked up an is220d in poverty spec on a cheap 2 year lease deal.We get to drive a fairly wide range of vehicles and in our experience it's the least diesel sounding engine of anything we've come across. The level of equipment as standard is good.We are generally very pleased with it, but as its only a lease car we never get that attatched to them as its not your pride and joy if you see what i mean. It's fairly quick, decent handling, good brakes. The main bad points are poor fuel economy,we see 32-35mpg on the trip comp and thats been consistent for 16000 miles, sqeeks and rattles are getting worse and it cant pull its 6 gear comfortably below 75/80 mph and the rear view mirror vibrates badly with the stereo on.Most of the above faults are covered on owners forums with solutions i believe, but i have never been that botherd by them.

No contest the new C class, its in a different emmm class.

Took a sniff round one at the local merc dealer at the weekend, dreaming about replacing my old shed of an e class.

The new c is very well put together, looks nice in sport spec, still a massive options list but its a nice car, will probably have pretty good residuals, especially the 220 cdi

I was really unimpressed when I drove one - the engine really lets it down IMHO.
