Advice on viewing an Audi RS4
I am going to view a second hand RS4 (new shape) tonight. The car is a cat D and i have been told has had no repairs etc. Instead it is a stolen & recovered after a house was broken into and the keys taken.
Can anyone give me an idea of what i sould look out for with these cars as well of the usual things that should be considered.
Replies welcomed ASAP

Only one place to get it inspected, ask how much a specialist or Audi themselves charge

AA or RAC is a good idea
Hi Rob
I was speaking to a mate today at work who has just bought a Scooby WRX, the first garage he wanted to buy off told him the WRX he was lookin at was a great car. So he rings the garage the next day to ask permision for the AA inspection guy to look at it, and the garage tell my friend that actually the car a recovered right off and they dont want to sell him the car anymore and not to send in the AA..... Lucky escape for him, ringers dont want to be caught so just the threat of an official (and unemotional, lets be honest) inspection could be an indicator of the integrity of the seller.
RS4's are georgeouse mind
Good luck,
Cheers paul

1k's worth of locks and a window dont make for a cat D think there would have been a little more damage for it to become an insurance right off (like 40%+)

The story goes that it was stolen and then found in a lock-up 4 months later along with lots of other cars (after the insurance had paid up.) THey bought it back and are now selling on - we shall see.....

It would need to be very cheap - For me at least, cat D on a 'special' car like that takes a huge whack off the value.
Assuming you sell it again as Cat D, even if it's brought back to showroom condition it's still worth a LOT less and has a small resale buyer base so make sure you don't expect a great resale price. If you plan to keep it for ages then that can be a different matter.
Don't think I'd ever buy a 'fixed' cat D unless it was for the shopping car. Rather have the original Cat D so I can at least see what was wrong and in knowledge I'd have a real bu66er trying to ever sell it.

Agreed. I am as sceptical as anyone else though the owner is adamant that no repair work has been done to the car. It is booked into Audi now for a full check so if any work has been done I will know
