Anyone help with Astra MK3 cooling pipe location?
Hi,
Been spending some of the last few weeks fixing up my second car - as title. Taking ages as I have to do it on the drive and don't fancy standing in the rain! Anyhow, it's nearly all there but ..... I have an 'end' spare ... That is, I have the end of a cooling hose that I cannot for the life of me figure out where it goes or where it went. Now I should have taken pictures before I took things apart but I reckon this one wouldn't have been in anway,
The engine is a 1.6 16V (X16XEL) Ecotec varient. The pipe in question is teed off of the water pipe that joins the bottom of the inlet manifold - so between the back of the engine and bulkhead. The one you have to remove to take the inlet manifold bottom half off. The 'tee' is about 4 inches from the manifold and the pipe is about 12" long and about 1/2" in diameter.
I've asked on the Migweb site but had no response. Haynes is useless for this one. Looks like I may have to visit the scrappies if noone can tell me or I can't find the other end ...
Any clues anyone?
Cheers
Dave

Ta for the links. Posted there as well BUT still nowt.
But been rooting around underneath the car again. Not found where this pipe goes yet BUT the pipe that connects to the bottom manifiold that it comes from goes to the bulkhead afterwards - so obviously a heater pipe. Not sure whether it is the entry or exit pipe but does that give anyonea further clue?

Looks like it could be a visit to a friendly Vauxhall garage ...

An 'ic'? Went to Vauxhall and they couldn't help. Their parts pictures were no use and the service ones even worse .... But the older mechanic there seemed to think it went onto the throttle body. All the area behind the TB is a right complicated mess and also above the gearbox so you can't see from below. TB is coming off again to see what I can see .......
This is so hacking me off ....

Sussed it! Took the TB off and lo and behold a spare spigot for a coolant pipe. No way could you see it with the TB on the car. Plus there was another spigot less than 1/2" away with the pipe still attached so I've no clue why one was unattached and one not as I hadn't taken the TB off originally - just looseded it ...
Oh well .....
