Default Opinions on "lots of car for your money"

I was thinking of getting a cheap fun type toy to replace the Impreza but I'm going off the idea rapidly.
So thoughts have turned to a bruiser for a bit of plushness with a stable full of horses under the bonnet.
Just to give you and idea of what I'm thinking of..
Initial thoughts were BMW 540i
Mates at work have suggested 325i Sport, but I hate the shape of that one and to be honest kind of not "into" the whole BMW thing anyway..

Stuck for what to look at...

Suggestions?
Hovering around the 3K mark would be good...

I wouldn't describe the following as a bruiser but how about a Saab 93 Aero?

Looked at Lexus, shame about the mileage on most of the ones on Autotrader.
Looked at Rangerover, that ties in nicely with previous offroad adventure toys, warming to the idea there...
Started to look at Skylines, scrolled past all the 2.5 T's and ended up drooliing over a 39 grand R34 V-spec oops

Merc = something Grandpa would drive... The cheap stuff is far too outdated for my liking.

Jag xjr6

Jaguar : XJR6 Supercharged Manual - Reduced!

That one's got a few too many miles perhaps but you get the idea. Specialist servicing isn't too dear, although I did wonder if there was a hole in the petrol tank when I first got mine...

For 3k the bang for buck and spec (including age and mileage) would be an S14a 200SX IMHO.

Id say try the beemer anyway, in sport guise they can be plush n comfy but they handle extremely well ..not just for their size but full stop..you can maybe see what other people like about them as well...

Not sure if you've ever had a Volvo or would fancy one, but the T5's are pretty quick and if they've been RICA'd run over 300bhp. I previously had a C70 T5 and it could shift when needed, came with all the toys and was super reliable. I ran it from 100K to 170K and it never let me down once. They are great motorway cruisers and you could pick a pretty good one up for £3K.

I bought a V8 Toyota Soarer for £1500. Good handler (switchable air suspension), groovy dash, electric everything, nice V8 rumble. £3k would buy you a low mileage minter.

Kind of wondering if this is the right direction I should be looking in now.

Wish I could make up my mind what I want.

Thinking I might get rid of the economy car now and blend the two together with some turbocharged diesel bus..

I have the same problem Andy. One minute I am thinking about an old V8, the next I am thinking about some sort of TDi and then the next I am back on turbo'd jap stuff.

I know that what I have is probably the best possible car for me as it is economical, fun, fast and 100% reliable but sometimes I just get that I want a change feeling. By the way, the car I have is an Integra Type R DC2. You can get them for around 4K now!

A pal of mine bought a 750iL off ebay for about a grand with about 110k miles on it.Not sure of the model code but it's about 10 years old and it's a V12 engine so it should go on a bit longer.
Superb cruiser as it's the long wheelbase one, with all toys, including electric rear seats.

W124 model Mercedes Benz E280-24V

Built like a Tank, goes like a dragster, and if you get a touring, more room inside than a 2 bed terrace
