FWD or RWD?

FWD - DC-5 Teg
RWD - M3 EVO.

Obvious answers I know.

If it's power and speed, something old, Japanese and turbocharged must be high on the list. EVO 6's are in that price bracket now. Maybe even early unloved Skylines.

Do you want fast out of the box or dangerously modified?

Saab 9-5 Aero or Volvo S60 T5 and then chip it, 300 bhp, torque, reliability and a bit of a sleeper, just dont get to enthusiastic about corners. The mid range on these things is amazing, old and Japanese could be fun but makes you look a bit of a tosser, its a shame but even the good looking Supra has been mainly ruined with body kits and naff wheels nowadays, plus I could imagine finding bits may be a bit more of a challenge than for a Volvo.

MG ZT 260's are available for 10k.

For 10k , apart from the 'daily driver' bit the TVR Cerbera will destroy everything else - probably including itself.

Or you could go the luxury route and get an early / mid 90s Merc S-class coupe ... I was looking at an 500 coupe recently and that's a lot of luxo-barge for your dosh, all the V8 you'll need, pre-bean counter build quality and classic insurance too.

They are not yet in wide boy / rude Merc territory either

STI 5 - with some basic mods, 3k with your change for some more mods and you'll have 350bhp, 4wd, 1250kg and every day transport with 4-wheels. Job done

Well if a big Merc's an option, i have to mention the Jaguar XJR. Plenty for £10k, independents for parts/servicing and around 370bhp for the v8s.

Some good suggestions there. I think that at the moment it'd be between a mint STi5/6 Type RA Limited, a Bugeye STi or an R33 Skyline.

Drool. I would but not sure it'd survive 12,000 miles a year. Or maybe it would but my bank account wouldn't.

low to medium 300s (325-340) with a remap and exhaust work....High 300s require turbo changes.
