Default VW Corrado G60!

Okay my run around is fooked, so despite my better judgement I am going to look at one of threse . I have always admired these cars since I learnt to drive , I was wandering what to look out for when lookiing at these. I have been told to look out for when the supercharger was last serviced but is there anything else?

Also what are they like to drive?

I would have thought the VR6 version would be the one to go for. It has the better engine. The 2.9ltr V6 has 190bhp, the G60 get 160bhp from its 1.8 S/C engine.

G-lader's can be problematic but as said tweakable. Jabbasport or AmD are known good eggs.

My brother just picked up a bright yellow G60 with 80k miles for £500!!!!!

Trouble is its not the bargain he thought it was going to be, the owner had a slight mishap with a kerb, and on closer inspection it had bent the drivers side driveshaft and wishbone, so we got a replacement driveshaft and wishbone for £50 of e-bay wich worked a treat now the car drives perfectly straight, until we noticed that the next problem is the engine is now fu6ked the wheel must have pushed something hard and it sounds like metal grinding on metal when running, So not to waste time taking the engine apart and checking whats wrong he has just bought a replacement VR6 engine and gearbox for £500!!!!

If your going to get a G60 make sure the supercharger has been rebuilt, as they need doing every 50000miles or something like that????? and they are around £400 to get serviced and rebuilt from Jabba, where as if you need to replace the whole supercharger for some reason its around £1k brand new!!!! Personally Id go for the VR6, much stronger engine and the sound of these are on par with the scooby burble they sound awesome!!!!!

My brother found this site yesterday!!!!
Welcome to Ballistic Power - Home

Had a few tuning parts for the G60, also the supercharger rebuilds are a lot cheaper compared to Jabba!!!!! Worth a look anyway???

the VR6s are a bit heavy though, so they're not that much quicker than the G60. Sound luverly though. Body parts and light on Corrados are incredibly expensive, so good brake are a must!

Nearly got a VR6 having wanted one for years, but the insurance was the same a Scooby, and they don't handle as well as I though. And they're cramped!

Hey i owned a corrado G60 for 2 years back in 2003......

Positives, if set up right it handles oustandingly, almost on par as a williams clio, performance wise mine had a mild chip and decat, nice torque once moving but never kneck breaking fast.... Solid build quality all in all.

Negatives, Obviously the charger must be serviced by 75k miles, make sure their isnt any oil coming from the charger pulley seal. The gearboxes arent great, mine started to go had real trouble selecting second gear, quick gearbox oil change and it cleared up enough for me to sell it. Also the power steering rack on mine went costing. Oh yeah check the switch for the lights, if that breaks it costs £70 odd ( can get jammed)

I do still miss my G60, it was the whole package really, just a classic.......
