This is a new trend of scam (I think its somehow linked to the 419 money laundering scams)

We recently were made aware of a woman in Norfolk who was duped in this way. From memory... They send a cheque, you ship the car, and hey presto, the cheque is bogus (or something similar)

I can't go into any more detail in relation to this, for obvious reasons, but as is mentioned above

BE CAREFUL!

Isn't the very simple solution to wait for the cheque to clear then send the goods?

Beware - they are after your bank details - it sounds similar to the nigerian scam.

Basically I would'nt trust anyone who can't spell or use proper grammar.

I mean if the reply makes barely any sense I would'nt trust it. As always, only send or release the goods once payment has cleared.

Always try to deal face to face in the final transaction if possible, especially for high value goods like cars.

Iv'e seen this one a few forums lately apparently the cheque is dodgy but it clears ok.Also buyer makes cheque out for to much money saying you can pay them back when the cheque clears thus making sellar feel a bit more secure. Then when car is gone the duff cheque is found out and all monies returned to bank etc leaving you with naff all.
Oh hi all i'm new

Yep. The cheques can be doctored. Wont go too much into it but lost £17k in cheque fraud last year. A Council issued cheque as well!!!

If somebody is daft enough to fall for that, how the heck did they pass a driving test to end up with a car?

no-one could fall for that - couldn't understand what money I was supposed to be sending, so I'd keep it all and the car!
