LAD Motorsport Lancs - Saxo Tour De Cours
Hi chaps,
A colleague has asked me to put a post to the site to see if anyone has had any dealings with LAD motorsport at Morecambe? He has been told about a citroen Saxo that they produced 20 of, known as the Saxo Tour de Cours.
Two points really - what is the rep of the company as a tuning company, and secondly, has anyone encountered one of these tour de cours saxos? Apparently a dealership in the north of england handed over 20 saxo vts to LAD motorsport and asked them to up the performance on them. My colleague has the opportunity to buy number 1 of 20 at a reasonable price, and with reasonable mileage.
Your comments and opinions would be welcomed.

They did produce 20 of these, i have heard many stories of them not producing the quoted power. LAD have an awful reputation of carrying out poor quality work, try asking on a saxo forum for more information about them.

The actual workmanship that LAD do is supposed to be ok, but on independant rollers NONE of these cars have got even close to their claimed power output.
I don't think they believe in chipping/remapping of any type which means it is always going to be hard to significantly raise bhp.
Better to spend 1500 (Manifold, decat, exhaust, induction kit, cams and remap for a genuine 160bhp)

I have an old Performance Car article which states that although its ok,the standard car is just as satisfying to drive, they rated the suspension as too hard.
"Upgrade " consists of,
Reworked cylinder head.
new air filter.
modidified cam timing
chipped ecu
suspension stiffened and lowered by 60mm.
16inch alloys with 195s instead of std 185s
up rated brakes.
few cosmetics spoiler,stickers and stuff.
mixed reports on their work!!
My old 205 was modified by them by the previous owner and was supposed to be more BHP but when I rolling roaded it is was smack on the std 130bhp.
