Default Ford Escort Van 1997 mk6

Ive just bought a run about 55 diesel van. Body is good, not much rust. Engine is sound, but needs new belts etc.

The only prob is crappy worn out looking bumpers and a cracked (leaking) windscreen. Who ever tried to fix the windscreen used about a tonne of bathroom silocone sealer around the windscreen. All that has done is stop the water from the roof running down the rubber door seals and caused the metal grips to rust and fail, which i think has made the leak much worse.

Im going to replace the windscreen seal and see it that sorts it. Anyone had any experiance of this with other fords?

I had a focus which had previously had a new screen - this wasn't sealed properly so when it rained or i washed the car water would run in down the inside of the pillar trim
I took the car to Autowindscreens who removed the screen, cleaned the area and resealed for £52.00
they said the screen may crack when they removed it in which case i'd claim on my insurance with £50 xs

If you ahem accidently cracked the screen and got a replacement under your insurance you don't lose your no-claims

Well i have the new seal.... i was hoping i could fit it to the old screen. You cant get anywhere near the screen edge to fit it. So will have to take it back to the dealer for a refund. Just hope the windscreen company will supply a new seal?
