Default Secondhand cars priced regionally?

I've read a bit in the past about cars being cheaper or more expensive depending on the part of the country - supply and demand I suppose. Has anybody got any general advice or evidence? Looks like North East and Scotland are cheapest and South East/London more expensive - perhaps £500 differenc on a 15-20k secondhand car.

A £500 saving on a car worth 15-20k is no good at all.

By the time I've taken time off work and spent money of travelling the saving is gone. Factor in looking at a few duffers and it will work out more expensive.

I'd not travel much more than an hour to buy a car.

Id say that on a £15k car the price diff between north and south is over £1000-£1500, which, to me, is worth travelling for......

Unless you actually go and see the vehicles how can you be sure?

One might just be a better car?

Its not across the board, it can vary depending on a models desirability in a given area, I remember a delaer in the 80s/90's makign anice living out of moving Nova SR's round the country as the could be a grand or so difference in price from one area to another so go to the auction in one area, buy all the SR's,get them transported to your pitch and sell them to all the eager young lads with wads of tenners.

I've always thought London was a cheap place to buy cars. It's often a complete falsity to say that London is more expensive in many areas - the competition does keep prices down.
