audi a3 on 18's?
my best friend has got himslef a T reg (1999) audi a3 1.8 T and is in the market for sum new alloy wheels, he has his eye on sum 18's but is not sure weather it will ruin his handling or anything else? anybody know anything about it?

Having bought a mk4 Golf with 18" wheels, swapping to 17" wheels, made the car handle better, tramline less and increased my acceleration.
18" wheels are a common modification, but that doesn't make it right!

It handles better with 17's though, hence me reccomending it. Also the MK1 A3 was a very poor chassis when it came to sporty driving (barring S3) hence the combo of 17's and coilovers.

Have 18"s on my TDI A3 and it looks fab. However ride is a bit hard especially with the lowered springs. Depends what you want more. I hated the original balloon tyres on the standard 15" wheels.
