Thumbs down Mundano tdci 1.8

Mate has a problem with his 02 Ford Mondeo tdci 1.8, the engine dies and only an ignition on//off will allow it to start again. It can happen as soon as 3 secs into a start or after 5 miles or so. He says it usually happens when warm but it can happen at any moment when idle or under load.

Any ideas on what could be the cause, ECU issue? Thanks.

I had a very similar problem with my 52 2litre TDCi, turned out it was a dodgy cam sensor, fairly cheap to replace. But it might be worth getting it checked out at a grarage. Mine had just over 100k on the clock when it happened, I know it also happened to someone else with 130k on the clock. most likely problem
