They look pristine but to be honest i think they are poo cars and can see what the big fascination with them is, or the willingness some people seem to have to pay big money for one

What is so hard for current car companies ?

Why not bring out a small, cheap hatchback with a minimum of toys and Rwd ?

Why does everything have to weight 2 tonnes ?

what, like an MX5 perhaps?

Nearest thing I've ever driven to my AE86s was a mates Mk1 MX5 S-Ltd.

MX5, yes, see your point but what about a hatchback, with four seats and rwd, I ddont think the car companies can do a small rwd car nowadays, suppose the 1 series is the nearest but its not cheap, packaging dictates fwd for most these days

My mate has a D plate white AE86 in standard trim that is pristine, he has just spent the last year restoring it as didn't realise they were sought after until he started to look at selling it and found they were going for 3 times what he paid for it

Think you've hit the nail on the head. Not my cup of tea at all and they never will be, although i do appreciate an excellent example of any car which is what those pictures show
