Peugeot 306 diesels - quick Q
Does anyone know anything about pug diesels?
I'm looking at a 99T HDI. Now first off, I thought they started putting the HDi in at 2000 which makes me think this might have had an engine change.
Then I go on confused just to get a rough idea of insurance and when I bang the reg in, it says 1905cc which is the TDi not HDi
I've seen a pic of the engine and its deffo an HDi so is it fairly certain that its been changed then?
Thanks

So possibly the car i'm looking at is an HDi D Turbo then
He's telling me its an: LX HDi DT
The pic of the engine is deffo HDi, its blurry but I can read H-D-I on the huge plastic cover.
Do you reckon that sounds about right then? Or possibly not?
Thanks for your help BTW

The 2.0 HDi engine was introduced in 1999 - thing with the 306's is that there are so many different models...! You get the 5 door: LX, GLX, Meridian (have 1/2 leather) and the D-Turbo ,
in the 3 doors you only get the D-Turbo model (has the bodykit, 5 spoke alloys, sports interior, looks like a GTi-6....)

Cheers Raf, like I said the guy is saying its a LX HDI DT, its a 5 door but when I put the info into confused it claims its a 1.9
Now I know I can't go on that only as its been wrong before, so i put the details into the rac reg check and it came out 1997cc which is right.
I think its genuine but I wanted to check with people first as I believed the HDi to be fitted 2000 on.... but I was wrong
Going to look at it tomorrow morning

Ok will check that. Just found out that a new fuel pump is about 800 quid
And I also just realised that it won't have glow plugs as its direct inj
Apparently the fuel cut out switch hasn't popped out either
Thanks for you're suggestion, any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

when cranking ,listen by the tank if you can hear the pump going,it will only prime for a little then cut off ,i(f the engine aint running). You could take off the pipe where it connects to the fuel pump (by the engine) and then crank and check if fuel comes out.You can access it under the rear seat if i remember and check that its getting a live.. quite a problem changed loads of them.. Sure there less than £100 from peugeot

Still don't start everything seemed to be working ok.
Its been sitting for a couple of months, could it be that the diesels just sunk back to the tank
