Default Landrover Discovery 3 TDI V6 2.7 - Anyone here run one ?

The wife would like a Discovery TDI V6 2.7
Dont really know too much about them, would be looking at about a 1 year old one with no more than 20,000 miles.

Are they any good ?
Any Problems to watch out for.
Servicing costs ??
MPG ?

Cheers

We have been looking at these too . . .

Took one for a test drive in the summer, totally accomplished car.

The TD6 SE seemed to be the one to go for

But they are soooo heavy and they have the aerodynamics of a barn door !

So 25-30 MPG, lots of brakes and brakes but a great car.

Have a look at a Freelander 2 - you'll be surprised at how good it is - unless of course you need 3.5 tonne towing capacity

Not yet, but plan to later next year. I have taken one for a test drive and really liked it. Much preferred it to the Disco3 I test drove a few months back. Felt more spritely and not so massive as a Disco3. Depends what you need it for really - but I recommend a test drive I plan to tow the scooby on a trailer to track events in the future and this is what I would go for

I think 20mph on a good day will be more realistic. I just drove to Italy and back in my Civic Diesel and the effect on the economy of having a roof rack with skis on it was very noticable. The drag of such an unaerodynamic lump plus it's weight will mean truly cr@p economy from any 4x4, even with the diesel engine.

Why does she want a Discovery so much?

Excellent, you won't have to worry about the mpg then. I take it the majority of those miles will be offroad, driving through snow on ski holidays etc?

Where does she like to do her offroading?

Excellent. Now all you need to do is lead your wife to the same place i.e. somewhere that doesn't sell 4x4s
