First Car for my Girlfriend
Afternoon all
My Girlfriend has decided it's time she got herself a car (Woohoo-free taxi service )
She passed her test a year ago and hasn't driven since then (don't worry, a refresher lesson is booked)
She's looking to spend £1500-£2k on summit to run around in and get some experience, I've suggested a Ka or a Polo, she's also thinking about a Yaris, Corsa or Clio. I'd like to hear your opinions on these and also if there's any other cars she should consider?
She also likes Rav4's, you can get one for less than £2k but I suspect they may be trouble, has anyone experienced them?
I say she get's an MX-5 or a Puma, that way I'd get to hoon around in summit girly and have the excuse that it's not mine
Cheers
Brian

Cheap insurance so you want the lower groups so the mx5 and puma's are probably out of the window (how old is she?)
You could try a Pug 306 DT, sporty looking and 92bhp plus grp 5 insurance and good on juice
Clio.... would probably be the older shape, they are ok but nothing special, the ka is a nice car to own though, brakes are crap but its cheap to run and should have a decent spec, the 1.25 is the one to get, not the 1.3.
Yaris.... dont think you will find one for 2k they hold their value well but are a nice solid car with a nice 16v engine, if you can get one then its worth buying

Got my missus an older ford ka when she first past her test. When the first 6 months were over and there looked like being no more addtional scrapes on the bodywork, I got her an 03 ka for £2,500. You'd probably get a late 02 for £2k.
Thoroughly recommend the ka, cost nothing to run and they are generally reliable cars. The plastic bumpers ca easily be replaced cheaply for when them scrapes occur.
