Do VW Drivers Have Enough Confidence To Go In The Fast Lane
Was on my way down to Devon on a job today. In the middle lane doing around 70 ish, overtaking stuff in the slow lane. A VW Golf came up behind and sat on my tail. Nothing in the outside lane, did it overtake?
No, started weaving from side to side, by now I'm a bit puzzled, I'm going faster than the stuff on the inside, if it wants to pass, why not overtake me?
Pass all the inside lane traffic and move over, zoom, past it goes, gets as far as the next car in the middle lane and the same again, won't go in the fast lane despite being empty.
Thought nothing of it till, half an hour later the same happens with a POLO!
Did the job and set off back north, guess what, had the same with a Tourag and another Golf. Is it Holiday Traffic on route to the West Country or are VW drivers not allowed in the outside lane?
Possibly other Marques do the same however, today only noticed VW's doing this.
Anyone else notice this behavoiur around the middle lane ( probably not just VW Drivers)

Well, I've got a VW and it does use the outside lane - when the occasion demands ... Just before moving back to the innermost lane that is available ..

My Passat is usually found in lane 3
TBH if you're cruising at 80 or above then you VERY rarely need to move over these days, lanes 1 & 2 are usually choked with wagons and codgers so it's hardly worth pulling in, especially as lane 3 is more often than not an 81mph queue ....
The fastest vehicles in lane 3 are Merc Sprinters and the new VW Transporter 172 vans
I've only been driving cars for 15 years but m-ways are noticeably slower these days than when I started
