96 Carina E Engine light...
hi all
My gf has just gotten hold of a 96 toyota carina e and the engine light is on now and again... is there anyway like on the scoob to get the fault code? joining connectors or something? also a list of the fault codes would be handy too.
thanks
Rich

You sure this isn't the silly "economy mode" light? Had one on hire for work once, and some light kept coming on to tell you that you were driving it in the "economy zone". This meant sod all power, but very good mpg. Put your foot down a little bit, nothing happens. Put it down a bit further, it drops out of the economy zone and into the "power zone", and it's accelerating hard (relatively, it's still only a 115bhp 1.8 or whatever!). ****** irritating, as it wouldn't hold a steady 75/80 indicated up a hill on a motorway - economy zone always had not enough power, power zone always had too much.
