Porsche Boxster S Beeping when locked!!
Fitted a new stereo to the wifes car at the weekend, a year 2000 Boxster S, and now the bloody thing sounds the horn when it gets locked???
I know that these cars are fitted with door sensors that cause the horn to emit a single beep if you try to central lock the car and one of the doors is open. But this isnt the case here, both doors, boot, bonnet, and interior centre console are all closed.
The stereo was a Becker unit that replaced the old Becker unit so I didnt need to mess with the cables at all, it was a direct swap so not sure what is wrong....ANY IDEAS people???

Ta, reading the manual it doesnt look like the stereo is one of the security things the car checks when you hit the central locking button...so why the beep though? Am pretty sure I didnt disturb any other wiring...oh well, it is into a Porsche place soon to have the airbag disabled ready for a baby seat!! Will get it checked then I guess....

I think I know what it is!!!
This could be coincidence, but I am pretty sure when your key fob battery starts to go flat it begins to pip like that? Have a look in your manual for that.

doesnt the subaru alarm chirp like that when the main vehicle batter is lhalf flat? maybe you sat on the drive with the stereo pumping long enough to knock some juice out of the main battery.

Open and close the boot (i.e bonnet ) if that dont work then try open and closing the roof.
I had this problem and it was the alarm system not registering the roof or bonnet was closed for some reason. A quick open and close and it was ok.

billy the kid, I have done this to all doors and compartments etc....and I dont think it is just a coincidence that it was working fine up until I replaced the stereo...is the stereo and the alarm system linked somehow that I could have cocked up when fitting it?
