Question Volvo S60 R - anyone else driven one?

Interested to what you think of it and how you'd compare it to an impreza, my dad has just bought one and had the pleasure of doing 300 miles in it saturday night on an airport run, gotta say, pretty impressed, the adjustable suspension & engine mapping is a fantastic toy

I like my Volvo's - never driven an S60R though. I hear the I/C is weak though. Replace that, the turbo, injectors, DP, full exaust and a remap you would enjoy 400hp if you didn't fry the diff!

IC's a bit on the small side and open to all sorts of road debris being that low down!

i tell you what though, if the Subaru had that sort of clever electronic suspension, active yaw control etc. we'd never hear the end of it

I had a brief blat in one a couple of years ago when I still had the impreza. Felt quick enough and handled pretty well just didn't feel as raw as the impreza (which might not be a bad thing!). The interior was obviously in a different league.

Would probably be a very good all round car.

I test drove one for an hour a few weeks ago. Very impressed. A very nice car that I'd be happy to own. Great adjustable suspension, the AWD is good. Fast too if you work the engine. Not much as much torque as I'd expected but that might be because I'm used to driving the 350Z. Build quality is first class, that might be after driving the 350Z too..

Looked at buying one but was put off by the depreciation and the bad reviews. The handling is supposed to be not that good compared to class leaders.

can't say i've driven an M5, S4 etc. but if you put it into the advanced mode then it becomes almost like a track car, don't think i've driven a standard car with such stiff suspension before.

Seems to be the same in every review that is isn't an enthusiasts car, not that fun to drive and the feedback to the driver is not good.

thought it was pretty good myself, throw in a race seat & 5 point harness and strip it out and it'll be a great track car

the 4c system is good, soft, hard and really hard shocks, is fun to have, they all so adjust themselfs as u drive along, various sensors on the car telling the shocks wot to do, the awd system also changes with wot the sensors tell it, more power to rear/more to the front, etc

and also traction control systems, anti skid stuff, if u manage to overcome the awd grip, (which will happen now and again!), is nice to have

plenty of power and torque, good engine sound, easy to tune, mte do a chip for it , which will boost to from 400nm to 480nm, and bhp from 300 to 340bhp, thats a good wad of torque to be had

it has 2 intercoolers, one big one between rad and airconditioning rad, and a wee small one right at the front.

the car has had a few breakdowns, the sleve that joins the anglegear shaft to the gearbox shaft failed(= fwd only), to soft, new harder one put on by volvo, back wheels bearing went, weak part, better part put on.

if your thinking of buying one, make sure it comes with a volvo warrenty!

but a good allround car at the end of the day

cheers
