You probably just underestimated the linear power delivery - *feels* slower than a turbo'd car.

Completely ridiculous! Can everyone just get off there pathetic high horses in regard to spelling and punctuation. It really is not that big a deal as long as you get the gist, i understood it alright. Slate him for making a twatish comment if you think that it's the case. Seriously, get over yourselves!

So a TT with 70 bhp more than your Scoob was no faster?
Very unlikely

Mk2 is a 2.0T or 3.2.
Mk2 official figures are:
200PS 2.0-litre Turbo FSI petrol engine and front-wheel-drive
250PS 3.2-litre V6 with quattro permanent four-wheel-drive
2.0 TFSI S tronic 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds, top speed 147mph, 36.2mpg
3.2 quattro S tronic 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds, top speed limited to 155mph, 29.7mpg
I had a 225TT that was around 290bhp after some serious money spent on it.
It was about the same performance as my WRX, maybe a little quicker, but my WRX with PPP is certainly quicker.
But that's not what it's all about with the TT, it's build quality, interior design, comfort etc.
remapping the smaller engines gives about 40bhp more and alot more useable power as the torque is far better too.
Great cars, but peformance wise, not on a par with subaru.

Well from what Ive read on the german audi forums the new TT being lighter, and having a more tuneable 2.0T FSI, its easy to get big power out of it with 300hp not being a hard task at all so I could see it being on par with a wrx in a roll on race due to it being fwd.

There are maybe one or two on the TT forum that have that sort of power. Not a couple of grand. New turbo, decat, full exhaust, fmic, custom remap.......

well, was mine...
Oddly I did overtake a z4 3l trying it's might, (gritted teeth the lot), but that was in my remapped TT, not standard, which it would have certainly have left standing.
I think the mk2 TT will turn out to be a quicker tuned car in the long run, but not in standard form.
To get 350bhp from them (and certainly the old one) is going to take more thana few Łk
